On July 22, exactly one month after the wedding, Rute Cardoso - the late wife of striker Diogo Jota posted the first status since the heartbreaking incident on July 3.
Not crying at all, she wrote briefly: "A month of us, until death splits us up. together forever, your white girl".
The three photos that Rute attached were all happy moments on the big day: The handshake of a wedding ring and the courtesy dance of the couple.
Before that, Jota suddenly passed away in a car accident in Spain, while traveling on the highway with his younger brother Andre Silva. The car had a flat tire, lost control, went around many times and caught fire, causing both of them to survive.
Less than 2 weeks after the wedding, Rute had to come identify the body of her husband, whom she had been with since she was 13 years old. The images at the morgue that day moved many people, when Rute trembled and walked and needed someone to guide her.
Jota and Rute have had 3 children together. Jota often shares about her family with quiet pride. Despite his busy schedule, he always took advantage of his time with his wife and children to enjoy simple moments of life.
Jota and Rute's love story began when they were 13 years old, all of whom grew up in Porto, Portugal. They officially dated after 4 years of knowing each other in high school.
Since then, Rute has always been a strong spiritual support for Jota. She has accompanied him throughout his career, from his early days at Pacos Ferreira, to shining in Porto, Atletico Madrid, then Wolves and recently Liverpool.
Rute is not only a lover, a wife, but also a close friend, a companion in Jota's life. She often appeared in the stands, quietly following his every run.
