On the afternoon of July 6, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) held a ceremony to announce the main sponsor, draw lots for the group stage for the final round of the National U21 Football Championship - FPT Play Cup 2026.
Within the framework of the event, VFF and FPT Play also signed a sponsorship cooperation agreement for the period 2027-2032.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoi - Standing Member of the VFF Executive Committee, the National U21 tournament plays an important role in the youth training system, contributing to creating resources for the U23 and national teams in the future. He also highly appreciated FPT Play's companionship in the organization, communication and broadcasting of the tournament.
The National U21 Finals - FPT Play Cup 2026 will take place from July 12 to 25 at PVF Youth Football Training Center (Hung Yen), gathering 12 teams, divided into 3 groups.
According to the draw results, Group A includes U21 PVF-CAND, U21 Hanoi, U21 Ho Chi Minh City and U21 An Giang. This is considered a noteworthy group when it gathers the defending champion and another candidate, U21 Hanoi.
Group B has the participation of U21 Hoang Anh Gia Lai, U21 The Cong Viettel, U21 Song Lam Nghe An and U21 Tay Ninh.
Meanwhile, Group C includes U21 Dong Nai, U21 PVF, U21 Hanoi Police and U21 Da Nang.
With this result, the competition for the throne at the 2026 National U21 Championship finals is predicted to be fierce right from the group stage.
In terms of format, teams compete in a single round-robin format to calculate points, selecting 8 teams to the quarterfinals including 3 first-placed teams, 3 second-placed teams in each group and 2 third-placed teams with the best results. The total prize value is up to 500 million VND.
