On the afternoon of July 27, the quarter-finals of the 2025 National U21 Tournament took place in Ba Ria Ward (HCMC) with four tense matches, all of which ended with a penalty shootout.
The match between Hoang Anh Gia Lai I and Ho Chi Minh City was affected by heavy rain, making it difficult for the players of both teams to control the ball. Although Hoang Anh Gia Lai I was the team that played proactively and created more opportunities, they could not take advantage. After 90 minutes of 0-0, Ho Chi Minh City won 4-2 on the 11m mark, winning a ticket to the semi-finals.

Similarly, the match between Da Nang and Hanoi also ended without a goal. Both teams had a chance, but the lack of luck in finishing forced them to determine the winner by penalty shootout. Hanoi was the team with more courage when winning 5-4.
The match between PVF and Song Lam Nghe An was the only match with a goal during the official competition. Hoang Anh took PVF up in the 15th minute, but Trong Tuan equalized 1-1 for Song Lam Nghe An at the end of the match after a mistake by the PVF goalkeeper. However, on the penalty spot, PVF won 5-3 to advance to the round of 4 with the strongest teams.
In the remaining quarter-final match, PVF-CAND - with a squad of many U19 players - faced many difficulties against The Cong Viettel. Despite continuous pressure, PVF-CAND still maintained the game and held it to a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes. However, in the penalty shootout, The Cong Viettel was the team that won a narrow victory of 5-4.
According to the schedule, the 2 semi-final matches will take place on July 29.
