According to Lao Dong, after Quang Nam club officially confirmed that it will not participate in the 2025-2026 professional season, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has notified the members of the 9th Executive Committee to vote on the plan to organize the V.League next season.
Currently, the tournament is facing many important changes, especially related to the number of participating teams. V.League currently has only 13 teams after Quang Nam's withdrawal. Meanwhile, the draw for the competition schedule has just been held for less than a week, affecting the preparation of the teams.
VFF is offering two options for the Executive Committee to vote on. The first option is to keep all 13 participating teams and only have one relegation spot to ensure stability.
The second option is to add Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc club - the second-placed team in the National First Division to ensure the initial number of 14 teams.
The option that receives a higher consensus will be implemented.
Previously, on July 21, Quang Nam club received a notice of merger with SHB Da Nang. According to the plan, all personnel from the coaching staff, first team players to the youth teams of Quang Nam will move to Da Nang. This is a step to restructure the Han River football team after a period of decline and relegation.
Currently, although there is no official decision from VFF, it is clear that V.League 2025-2026 will have many changes right before the competition starts. Determining the number of participating teams not only affects the competition schedule but also involves the preparation of V.League and First Division clubs.
