On the evening of January 2 (Vietnam time), the World Football Federation (FIFA) has just issued a notice to fine two lower-ranked clubs in Kenya and Vietnam for arranging the score.
Phu Tho Club will be expelled from the Vietnam Second Division Football Tournament and relegated to the Third Division. FIFA said the clubs had been informed and could appeal the decision.
Another club that was awarded a similar penalty was Kenyan's Muhoroni Youth. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has discovered that the two clubs have committed acts related to manipulating the results of matches and tournaments.
Muhoroni Youth will also be expelled from the national Second Division football tournament, going down to the Third Division from next season.
As stated in its charter, one of FIFA's core goals is to promote football integrity. Therefore, FIFA has applied an effective approach to the fight against all forms of regulation.
This organization provides a specialized, highly confidential and online reporting system for each individual to report information about settlement or violations related to integrity.
Phu Tho Club will have 10 days to appeal the decision from FIFA. In the Second Division, they are going through 3 consecutive losses since the beginning of the season. Phu Tho was relegated from the First Division in the 2023-2024 season after a poor performance, winning only 1, drawing 3 and losing 16 matches after 20 rounds.
