According to Thai newspapers, the Football Association of this country (FAT) has sent a complaint to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Refereeing Board, and provided videos of two plays that need to be clarified. The match took place at Chonburi Stadium under the direction of Syrian referee Feras Taweel.
U20 Thailand won 1-0 against U20 UAE thanks to Ponsan's only goal in the 45+1 minute. However, FAT believes that some referee decisions related to disputes may affect player safety.
During the match, there were a few strong collisions that raised concerns about the safety of players and the risk of injury. Two specific incidents need to be thoroughly investigated," Thai newspapers quoted FAT.
The first was the situation where UAE U20 player number 13 stretched his leg when jumping up to compete with U20 Thailand player number 11. FAT assessed the ball as dangerous and potentially causing injury.
In injury time of the second half, the U20 UAE goalkeeper rushed out to compete for a high ball, raised his leg and collided with a U20 Thai player, causing the opponent to suffer headaches. However, the referee did not issue a penalty before the match ended.
FAT continues to ask AFC to assess the entire incident based on the attached video.
The FAT believes that this submission is aimed at requesting relevant parties to investigate and consider whether the referee's behavior in the match complies with the rules or not, especially the safety of the player needs to be given top priority.
The complaint action is also aimed at ensuring fairness, transparency and compliance with international football standards, creating confidence for participating teams in the safety of players and referee standards," the Thai newspaper emphasized.
