On the evening of December 15, the Vietnamese team won 1-0 against Indonesia in the third match of Group B - ASEAN Cup (formerly known as AFF Cup 2024).
The "Golden Star Warriors" played proactively, controlling the match well but could not break the deadlock in the first half. It was not until the 78th minute that Quang Hai unleashed a tricky shot that defeated the Indonesian goalkeeper to bring home a goal for the Vietnamese team.
In the end, coach Kim Sang-sik's team won 1-0, thereby rising to the top of the rankings.
Present at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho), striker Huynh Nhu (national women's team) and her parents continuously cheered and supported the male teammates competing on the field.
Closing the match, Huynh Nhu shared: "Today, my parents and I got to witness the Vietnam team compete. The whole family was excited and delighted because the team had a great match to give to the audience.
The atmosphere at Viet Tri Stadium was very enthusiastic and desirable. Hopefully one day, women's football will also receive such enthusiastic support from such a large audience."
The female player born in 1991 added: "I was quite impressed with captain Quang Hai. He moved all over the field, encouraged the whole team and Hai deserved to win the title of Best Player of the Match."
Finally, Huynh Nhu expressed her wish that the Vietnamese team will play well in each match and win the 2024 ASEAN Cup championship.
