Short Tet holiday of the Vietnamese women's team

Lunar New Year is a rare time of year for Vietnamese female football players to return to reunite with their families after a long training and competition schedule.

However, the Binh Ngo Tet holiday of Huynh Nhu and her teammates was short, when the whole team only returned home from the afternoon of the 28th of Tet and had to gather again from the 2nd day to prepare for an important international mission in 2026.

Vietnamese female players have less than 3 days of rest before entering the peak training phase towards the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship finals. This is a tournament that directly determines a ticket to the 2027 Women's World Cup. Due to the tight schedule and the importance of the tournament, the coaching staff is forced to shorten the Tet holiday to ensure continuous preparation.

In the last days of the year, when many families are busy preparing feasts and making banh chung, the players still take the opportunity to return to their hometowns to be ready to welcome New Year's Eve with their loved ones.

On the afternoon of the 2nd day of Tet, the Vietnamese women's team gathered again at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. The players quickly switched to a focused living regime, preparing for a flight to Australia to attend the Asian finals.

The training schedule is built with high intensity, focusing on physical strength, tactics and connection between lines, to ensure the team reaches the best state when entering the tournament.

In the early spring training session, leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation visited and encouraged the whole team. VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan acknowledged the serious spirit of the players when returning to training immediately after the short break, and emphasized the special significance of 2026 for Vietnamese women's football.

According to the preparation plan, the Vietnamese women's team will have about 10 days of training in the country before moving to Perth (Australia) on February 27.

Previously, the whole team also had a training trip in Shenzhen (China) with 2 practice matches against the Chinese women's team. This is considered a key preparation step for the coaching staff to evaluate personnel and test tactics.

Shortening the Tet holiday is not an easy decision, but it is the specific nature of top sports. For female players, family reunion time becomes more precious than ever when the schedule is tight.

Many players shared that they take advantage of every moment with their families, take souvenir photos, visit relatives before returning to training.
