Today (November 21), the Vietnamese team officially entered an important training session to prepare for the AFF Cup 2024. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will have a 10-day training session in Korea with 3 practice matches to test, evaluate the team and perfect their playing style.
Having just competed in round 9 of the 2024-2025 V.League, on the first day of training, the players will rest to recover their health and undergo medical examinations. Tomorrow morning (November 22), the team will have a training session at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, then travel to Korea on a flight in the early morning of November 23.
In Korea, the Vietnamese team had 3 practice matches with the "blue team" arranged in order of increasing difficulty to serve the expertise of the coaching staff.
In the first warm-up match, the Vietnamese team will meet Ulsan Citizen of K.League 3. In the next two matches, the team will meet Deagu FC and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC, who are playing in K.League 1. These are also two "blue teams" that are highly appreciated by the coach.
In this training session, coach Kim Sang-sik selected 30 players from a preliminary list of 50 players registered with the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF). After completing the training trip in Korea, the team's strength will be strengthened with the participation of some players from the Nam Dinh Steel Club. The Thanh Nam team has a schedule to compete in the AFC Champions League Two 2024-2025, so it will be after December 4 that the players can be released to serve the team.
On December 6, the Vietnamese team will travel to Laos to prepare for the opening match in Group B of the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship, against the Lao team on December 9. One day before the match, coach Kim Sang-sik will make the final decision on the team's official list of 26 players.
