On the evening of January 2 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho), the Vietnam women's team defeated the UAE with a score of 6-0 in Group E of the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers.
This victory helped the Vietnam women's team solidify their leading position in Group E. However, sharing after the match, coach Mai Duc Chung was still not satisfied with his players' finishing ability.
"I'm not satisfied with the way I finish, but I'm satisfied with the score. This is a team with many players in the team that led Ho Chi Minh City 3-0 in the first half (ho Chi Minh City won 5-4 against Abu Dhabi Country in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League for women 2025) so we are also cautious", coach Mai Duc Chung shared.

Regarding the final opponent in the qualifying round, Guam, coach Mai Duc Chung commented: "I also watched Guam play against Cambodia. I also understand that their strength is stature and strength. We have to pass the ball faster, get closer."
After the first 2 matches of the qualifying round, Huynh Nhu did not score. According to coach Mai Duc Chung, Huynh Nhu needs to get closer to the penalty area. He said: "Huynh Nhu is old. We should not criticize, but should encourage Huynh Nhu.
She needs to be more flexible, faster, and get closer to the penalty area. As at the beginning of the match, Huynh Nhu was in pain because of her slow handling, she should have chosen a better position".
The Vietnamese women's team will close the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers with a match against Guam on July 5.
