On the afternoon of December 8, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Laos, along with leaders and officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos visited and encouraged the Vietnamese team before the opening match of the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship (AFF Cup).
Welcoming Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam and the delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, on the Vietnamese team side, there were Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Head of the Vietnamese team delegation at the AFF Cup 2024, Mr. Kim Sang-sik - head coach of the Vietnamese team, members of the coaching staff and all the players.
In a warm and friendly atmosphere, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam welcomed the team to Laos to compete in the opening match of the AFF Cup 2024 and encouraged the team.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of this tournament for Vietnamese football, and expressed his belief in the ability and determination of coach Kim Sang-sik and his team.
The Ambassador also shared that the Vietnamese community in Laos is looking forward to the match and will definitely come to the stadium in large numbers to cheer for the team.
On behalf of VFF and the Vietnamese team, Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Vice President of VFF - thanked the Ambassador and overseas Vietnamese in Laos for their attention. The Vice President of VFF said that from the moment they arrived in Laos, the team was very touched by the thoughtful support of the Embassy as well as the affection and warm welcome of the Vietnamese fan club in Laos.
This is a great source of encouragement, helping the team to be more determined and confident entering the tournament. The team will try their best to not disappoint the expectations of the fans, and at the same time actively contribute to the good relationship between the two countries.
In response to the Ambassador's affection and concern, captain Do Duy Manh, on behalf of the whole team, thanked him and promised to give his all in every match.
"The support of overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos in particular, and fans at home and abroad in general, is always a great source of encouragement for the team. The team will do their best for the flag and for the trust of the fans," Do Duy Manh expressed.
The opening match of the Vietnam team at the AFF Cup 2024 against the Laos team will take place at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow (December 9) at the Laos National Stadium. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team are aiming for victory to create favorable momentum for the race to the top spot in the regional arena.
