"Defender Vu Van Thanh has officially signed a new contract, lasting until 2028," Hanoi Police Club announced on the homepage. This is a rather surprising development as before that, Vu Van Thanh was very close to joining the new team, The Cong Viettel.

Van Thanh joined Hanoi Police in early 2023 after leaving Hoang Anh Gia Lai. He contributed significantly to the 2023 V.League championship and the runner-up position at the 2024-2025 Southeast Asian Club Championship of Hanoi Police. In the last 3 seasons, the player from Hai Duong scored 7 goals and had 18 assists.
At the national team level, Vu Van Thanh is not often a regular starter but he is still highly appreciated. Van Thanh is a member of the Vietnam team that won the 2018 AFF Cup and the 2024 ASEAN Cup.
