Accompanying fishermen in marine economic development

Cam Nhuong Fishing Union, Thien Cam commune, Ha Tinh province has clearly affirmed its role as a core organization, accompanying fishermen in marine economic development.

In particular, through practical activities, the trade union has done a good job of encouraging union members and supporting fishermen to feel secure in going offshore and sticking to the sea.

Currently, Cam Nhuong Fisheries Union has 236 union members directly involved in seafood exploitation, with more than 300 ships operating regularly. After the merger, the total number of fishing workers in the whole commune reached nearly 1,000 people.

This is an important force contributing to promoting local marine economic development, and at the same time is a "living milestone" protecting sovereignty in sea areas.

Promoting its role, Cam Nhuong Fisheries Union always pays attention to propaganda and mobilization of union members to strictly comply with regulations on seafood exploitation, especially against illegal (IUU) seafood exploitation.

In addition, the trade union also actively coordinates with functional forces, especially the Coast Guard, to organize programs to support and encourage fishermen.

Within the framework of the program "Sea Police accompanying fishermen", Coast Guard Region 1 presented 20 meaningful gifts to fishermen in Thien Cam commune, including many members of the Cam Nhuong Fisheries Union.

The gifts are not only of material value but also a great source of spiritual encouragement, adding faith for people to feel secure in sticking to the sea for many days.

Notably, some typical union members of Cam Nhuong Fisheries Union - fishermen who regularly go offshore and persistently stick to the sea have been directly visited and given gifts of encouragement by Coast Guard Region 1.

This is a worthy recognition for the unremitting efforts of the people in harsh and risky weather conditions at sea.

In the past year, despite being heavily affected by storms and unfavorable weather conditions, Cam Nhuong Fisheries Union still made efforts to overcome difficulties and maintain production activities.

The Union has received timely attention and support from the Vietnam Fisheries Union and the Vietnam Fisheries Humanitarian Fund through activities of visiting, encouraging, and giving gifts to 30 affected union members and fishermen with a total amount of 115,000 VND.

The achieved results have contributed to helping Cam Nhuong Fisheries Union to be recognized and praised by all levels and sectors. Thereby, continuing to affirm its role as a reliable support for fishermen, an effective bridge between workers and organizations and functional forces.

With the spirit of solidarity, responsibility and companionship of all levels and sectors, it is believed that Cam Nhuong Fisheries Union will continue to promote its role, contributing to building a strong fishermen community, reaching out to sea and sticking to the sea effectively, making positive contributions to socio-economic development and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
