Starting from January 1, 2026, the Law on Teachers officially takes effect.
This Law stipulates professional activities, rights and obligations of teachers; titles and professional standards of teachers; recruitment and use of teachers; salary and treatment policies for teachers; international training, fostering and cooperation for teachers; honoring, rewarding and handling violations of teachers; teacher management.
According to Article 9 of the Law on Teachers, the obligations of teachers are stipulated as follows:
1. Teachers in public educational institutions perform obligations according to the provisions of the law on civil servants and other relevant legal provisions. Teachers in non-public educational institutions shall fulfill their obligations according to the provisions of the law on labor and other relevant legal provisions.
2. In addition to the provisions of Clause 1 of this Article, teachers also have the following obligations:
a) Teaching and educating in accordance with educational goals and principles; fully and qualitatively implementing educational programs;
b) Maintain the qualities, reputation, honor, dignity, and ethics of teachers; set an example in professional activities and behavior in social relations; ensure academic integrity;
c) Promoting the qualities, abilities and discovering and nurturing the talents of learners;
d) Respect, treat fairly, protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of learners;
d) Performing the task of scientific research; research and application of educational science; updating and improving practical skills, accessing new technologies according to the provisions of law;
e) Participate in building a safe, democratic, innovative and creative educational environment.
