Food poisoning in Son La, one child died, many people hospitalized

Son La - On January 1st, the People's Committee of Muong Gion commune informed that a food poisoning incident had just occurred in the area, killing 1 person and many others had to be hospitalized.

According to initial information, at about 5 pm on December 31, 2025, at Ms. Lo Thi Phieu's house, Kich Mang village, Muong Gion commune, 6 people in the same family ate fruit and yogurt bought by relatives during the holiday.

At about 8:10 pm on the same day, 3 young children showed symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue and were taken to Muong Gion Commune Health Station for emergency treatment.

Due to their serious condition, the patients were transferred to Quynh Nhai Regional General Hospital. On the way to the emergency room, Lo Trong Tan (born January 8, 2022) died. The remaining two children continue to be treated at the hospital.

At about 3 am on January 1, the remaining 3 adults in the family also developed similar symptoms and were taken to the hospital for treatment and health monitoring.

Mr. Hoang Van Hoc, Vice Chairman of Muong Gion Commune People's Committee, said that immediately after the incident occurred, the commune directed the police force and the Health Station to implement initial handling measures, and at the same time visit and encourage the victim's family. Currently, the health of the remaining patients is being closely monitored.

According to the People's Committee of Muong Gion commune, initially determined that the incident showed signs of suspected food poisoning. Functional agencies are continuing to verify the cause, and have not yet detected signs of external force or criminal elements.
