Taking time for daily skin care will help women always have fresh, smooth, and bright skin. In particular, wearing a mask regularly will be one of the effective ways to improve skin after stressful working hours, and exposure to dusty smoke-rich environments.
However, some women will sometimes make the following common mistakes:
Skipping facial cleansing steps
This is one of the most common mistakes when many women often ignore the step of cleaning their face, or only wash it using a loudspeaker before applying a mask.
The skin has to come into contact with dust, pollution and a significant amount of excess oil every day, so if not deeply washed with a cleanser, the dirty and sebum layer will form a "shelter" to prevent nutrients from the mask from seeping into the skin.
In addition, applying a mask on dirty skin will be an opportunity for bacteria to increase, causing clogged pores and leading to inflammatory acne.
Wearing a mask beyond the prescribed time
The general psychology is that the longer you wear a mask, the more nutrients your skin will absorb. But this is a completely wrong concept.
For paper masks, the ideal time is only 15 - 20 minutes. If the mask is applied for too long, the result will be "in reverse". At that time, the skin does not penetrate nutrients but also makes the skin even drier.
Similarly, with clay or mud masks, leaving the mask dry and cracked will cause the skin to lose natural moisture, become plump and prone to irritation.
Choosing unsuitable products
The current mask market is extremely diverse, so choosing products needs to be careful to bring the best results and not harm the skin. For example, oily or combination skin should not choose to use masks that contain too much moisturizer, which will cause oily skin and clog pores.
Instead, prioritize clay and activated charcoal masks to increase efficiency. If your skin is dry, you should use a moisturizing mask containing Hyaluronic Acid.
Not moisturizing after applying a mask
Many women misunderstand that after applying a mask (especially a paper mask), the skin is already moist enough, but in fact, the nutrients from the mask still need a "locking layer" to maximize the effect.
After removing the mask and washing your face (if necessary), your skin needs to be rebalanced with rose water (toner) and then "umidefied" with a thin layer of moisturizer.
If this step is ignored, the moisture and nutrients will not be fully effective. This is also a key step in the skin moisturizing process.
Overuse of masks
Using a mask continuously for many days is not an optimal step for skin care. Overuse of masks, especially deep-cleaning or exfoliating masks, will damage the skin's natural protective layer ( mantle acid).
When this barrier weakens, the skin is more susceptible to irritation, becoming more sensitive to sunlight and the outside environment. The reasonable frequency for most types of masks is to use them 2-3 times a week.
