Thai Nguyen - The landslides on the Cau River bank in Dong Ang hamlet (Phu Binh) are expanding, causing local people to constantly feel insecure.

Recently, frequent floods have caused prolonged landslides on the Cau River bank in Dong Ang hamlet (Phu Binh commune). This location is adjacent to a densely populated area, making people worried and anxious.

According to Lao Dong reporters, in early November 2025, the landslide location in Dong Ang hamlet stretched hundreds of meters. Many locations are dug deep into the shore, posing a potential safety risk. The bamboo and rattan rows lying close to the riverbank were broken by landslides.

Many landslides and subsidence locations have eaten up close to people's residential roads. This is a road with a lot of traffic. Opposite the riverbed, dozens of houses are only about 5 to 10 meters from the landslide site.

According to people in Dong Ang hamlet, riverbank landslides have occurred since storm Yagi in 2024. However, the flood in October made the landslides worse. The landslide area has so far stretched for hundreds of meters, many landslides have a depth of more than 10 meters. The only road for people is also seriously threatened, affecting traffic.

Mr. Duong Ba Viec (Dong Ang hamlet, Phu Binh commune) said that in just a few more floods, the road running along the riverbank could collapse. Local people are very worried as the landslide situation continues. Everyone has reported to the authorities and hopes to soon receive support to build the embankment. Only the embankment at this location can ensure long-term safety.

Sharing the same concern, Mr. Hoang Van Thanh (Phu Binh commune) said: "The landslides are expanding, making people very worried. Opposite the riverbank are dozens of households. If the landslides continue, all houses and assets will be swept into the river.

Currently, the landslide area is close to the residential road, greatly affecting people's travel. The most dangerous are young children, or vehicles moving at night".

According to Mr. Thanh, although the authorities have issued warning signs and put up ropes, this is only a temporary solution. The landslide situation directly affects people's lives. Every time there is a flood, families near the riverbank are worried and insecure. Local people hope to soon have a definitive solution to ensure safety.

On November 9, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Van Tuan - Vice Chairman of Phu Binh Commune People's Committee said that the landslide area in Dong Ang hamlet was about 500 meters long, affecting about 80 households with nearly 200 people.

"In the immediate future, the local government has stretched ropes and put up warning signs to ensure the safety of the people.

The above level has also conducted a survey and proposed a plan to build embankments. When the embankment is built, the landslide situation will be completely resolved," the leader added.
