Korean rice cake, also known as tteok, has become a familiar dish for many Vietnamese families, especially young children. Tteok is made from pureed sticky rice, shaped into small cakes, steamed or fried.
In Korean culture, rice cake is not only a daily food but also has the meaning of luck and prosperity during important holidays.
Housewives can refer to making standard Korean rice cakes by hand to treat children during this summer vacation.
Accordingly, prepare ingredients including 230gr rice flour; 100gr sticky rice flour; 2gr salt, 360ml warm water, 5ml sesame oil.
Next, add the rice flour, sticky rice flour, nangity flour and salt to a large bowl and mix the ingredients together. Mixing all types of flour together will ensure the cake is even in color and texture.
Add warm water and start stuffing the dough into a block until the block is smooth and not lumpy. The thoxing process takes a while to reach the required smoothness.
After finishing, steam the dough for 20 minutes. During the steaming process, housewives need to ensure that the water boils small and has enough steam so that the cake can cook evenly.
Apply a little sesame oil to your hands, take a small piece of flour and apply it several times on your hands, then cut each rice cake about a finger bite. Continue to store the rice cake in the refrigerator and before using, boil the cake for about 1 - 2 minutes to make the cake softer and more flexible.
Rice cakes can also be processed into many diverse dishes such as spicy tteokbokki, tteokguk or delicious fried foods for children's meals.
