Many businesses suffered up to 90% damage due to storms.
According to the report of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, regarding the general damage caused by storm No. 3, all businesses in industrial parks had trees broken, with the highest damage reaching 90% and the lowest damage being 30%. Some areas were locally flooded during the storm. Many businesses had their roofs blown off, some walls were torn and collapsed; gates, fences, signs, camera systems, garages, and sliding metal doors were overturned, water flooded into the factory, but no human damage was recorded.
Notable examples include Wayne Company (6,000m2 factory roof blown off, aluminum and steel frame collapsed, machinery, equipment and finished goods damaged); Daito Rubber Company (factory flooded, roof blown off, machinery and equipment damaged); Vina Bingo Company (3 factories all had roofs blown off, goods damaged)... Currently, businesses and industrial parks are urgently fixing the problem. By the morning of September 10, about 95% of businesses in industrial parks had resumed operations.
In Vinh Bao district, according to information from the district's Labor Federation, more than 10 businesses were severely affected by storm No. 3, of which 4 businesses suffered the most damage, in some places up to tens of billions of VND. Those are Iwahashi Brushes Co., Ltd. whose 4,000m2 factory collapsed, 18 containers of goods were soaked with water (each container worth nearly 1 billion VND); CNC Gia Nghia Company's entire 5,000m2 factory collapsed, machinery and equipment were damaged; Vinh An Wood Company also had its 4,000m2 factory roof blown off, all its wooden flooring was soaked... It is expected that these businesses will have to recover within 1-2 weeks.
In Quang Ninh, storm No. 3 caused a power outage from 10am on September 7, disrupting communications and paralyzing traffic in many areas. The Vang Danh mine lost power and communications completely, and the road from Uong Bi to the mine was eroded. The storm also damaged the factory roof, tore off coal tarpaulins, knocked down more than 30 electric poles, damaged transformer stations and increased the amount of water in the mines. Many areas with trees were broken.
The leaders of Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group directed units to mobilize maximum human resources and equipment to overcome the consequences, inspect and handle affected areas, maintain water pumping and ventilation. At the same time, the Group also worked with Quang Ninh Electricity to quickly restore power supply.
In Thai Binh province, by September 10, some businesses in the province whose roofs were blown off had been basically repaired and returned to normal operations.
Support businesses to restore production as soon as possible
In the face of businesses being affected by the storm, the City Labor Federation directed all levels of the Union to review and count the number of union members and employees who had accidents; union members and employees in difficult circumstances whose houses were blown off and severely damaged by storm Yagi need to be provided with emergency hardship allowances and timely support for home repair.
Along with that, timely information on damage to factories, machinery and equipment of enterprises is provided so that the City Labor Federation can visit, share and encourage. On September 9-10, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation visited and encouraged more than 20 enterprises that suffered heavy damage due to the storm, supporting each unit with 10 million VND. At the same time, it is continuing to count and review to support enterprises (estimated at about 100 enterprises). The Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board is also reviewing and counting the damage of enterprises and reporting to the City People's Committee to promptly direct and support enterprises.
In Quang Ninh, according to the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group Trade Union, the union organized delegations to visit and sympathize with families of the deceased, provide financial support to injured cases and families whose houses were damaged, and at the same time compile additional cases in need of help to continue providing timely support.
