For more than 3 months now, dozens of employees at To Hieu - Son La Agricultural Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as the Company) have submitted a petition to the authorities about unilateral termination of labor contracts.
Working with the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, the workers said that they have signed an indefinite-term labor contract with the company since 2010. The work is stated in the contract to grow crops according to the company's regulations, working hours are 48 hours/week, the salary coefficient is based on income from production results on the allocated land area (30% of output).

Workers are also equipped with protective gear such as clothes, hats, shoes and enjoy holiday and leave regimes according to the provisions of law. Workers are also entitled to regional allowances of 0.5, responsibility allowances according to titles and are trained to improve skills, and have their salary coefficient increased according to regulations...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang - a farmer (Binh Minh team) - said that she signed an indefinite-term labor contract with the company from October 2010.
"Since signing a contract with the company, I have fulfilled my obligations to the company every year and have not violated any regulations. The company also fulfills its obligation to pay social insurance, unemployment insurance, and health insurance for me.
However, from June 6, 2025, the company unilaterally terminated the labor contract with me and many other workers without any reason and without any support for the workers" - Ms. Giang was upset.
Mr. Nguyen Tai Hung - a farmer at the Company - shared that in 2021, the company also issued a decision to terminate labor contracts with nearly 200 workers and left only nearly 20 people in administrative positions.
After the workers submitted their petitions, the People's Committee of Son La province directed relevant units to establish working groups to verify and clarify. Finally, the company had to revoke the decision to terminate this labor contract.
"From 2021 to now, everything has been going normally, I myself have always complied with the company's regulations and fulfilled my obligations. Now suddenly the company terminates the labor contract without a reason, which makes me very confused" - Mr. Hung said.

Regarding the above incident, in an interview with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Liem - Director of To Hieu - Son La Agricultural Company Limited also confirmed that the company had issued decisions to terminate labor contracts for 165 workers, all of whom were among nearly 200 workers who had received decisions to terminate contracts in 2021.
According to Mr. Liem, the company is operating according to the model of a 2-member LLC. Of which, the Provincial People's Committee holds 70% of shares and Son La Sugarcane Joint Stock Company holds 30%.
The termination of labor contracts with workers is based on the actual situation and current regulations of law. The company's labor contracts were not signed in accordance with regulations, so they had to be terminated according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee and the inspection conclusion of Son La Social Insurance.
According to Mr. Liem, in fact, these contracts were signed to legalize the compulsory monthly social insurance payment for employees. Because every month the company does not pay wages to employees according to contracts but only allocates land to production employees, every year it pays taxes and products to the company according to the prescribed rate, the rest are enjoyed by employees.
"Currently, 70/165 workers have received the decision and are completing procedures to terminate the contract according to regulations. The rest have not received and are submitting petitions to the competent authorities of the province and the Central Government" - Mr. Liem said.
