In 2024, 1,230,594 union members will be developed
Based on Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on "Innovation of organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation" and Resolution of the 12th and 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has focused on directing trade unions at all levels to promote the development of union members and the establishment of grassroots trade unions, thereby achieving the following results: In 2023 - 858,886 union members were developed, 3,296 grassroots trade unions were established; in 2024 - 1,230,594 union members were developed, 10,976 grassroots trade unions were established; in 2025 - 856,540 union members were developed, 3,647 grassroots trade unions were established.
"In the period of 2023 - 2025, 2024 is the year with the highest results in developing union members and establishing grassroots unions since 2010. This achievement not only affirms the efforts of the entire trade union system, but also creates strong motivation for trade unions at all levels to continue to promote their advantages, maintain an emulation spirit and strive to successfully complete the targets in 2025 and the following years. In particular, the impressive results in developing trade union organizations in the informal sector show the strong spread of the trade union movement and open up the prospect of continuing to expand the target group in the coming time" - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Xuan Hung said.
According to the leader of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, to achieve the above results, trade unions at all levels have also closely followed the leadership of the Party Committee, the coordination of the government, professionals, employers and promoted the spirit of proactiveness and creativity in performing tasks. Propaganda and mobilization work for workers has been gradually innovated, the content of union activities has been improved, creating a widespread influence and attracting union members. The grassroots trade union network continues to expand, especially in the non-state and informal sectors.
In addition, the quality of the trade union staff is increasingly improved, contributing to improving the effectiveness of direction, operation and support of the grassroots.
The results achieved during this period have affirmed the efforts and determination of trade unions at all levels in building a strong organization, affirming the role of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Xuan Hung commented.
100% of employees are union members
Implementing the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in the period of 2023-2025, the work of building a strong Trade Union organization and developing union members will be focused on by the Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV). As a result, over the past 3 years, TKV Trade Union has admitted 13,599 newly recruited employees to the Trade Union (average over 4,533 people/year), up to now the whole industry has 94,128 employees and 100% are union members.
In the work of developing union members, building a strong union organization, in the coming time, TKV Trade Union will continue to disseminate and educate the law, improve political qualifications, expertise, professional skills, industrial style, and labor discipline for employees.
Proactively coordinate the organization of social opinion surveys on policies; salary jobs; working conditions; living conditions in collective housing areas. Propagate about activities to care for Tet, especially to help employees better understand the concern of businesses as well as trade unions in implementing policies. Pay attention to improving the quality of union officials, especially departmental union officials and grassroots unions. Focus on innovating the quality of training content, fostering and training methods for union officials at all levels; build a team of union officials with courage, enthusiasm, responsibility and prestige among union members and workers.
