The Ministry of Home Affairs will coordinate with the Ministry of Finance, relevant ministries and agencies to continue reporting to competent authorities for consideration and decision to increase the basic salary in 2026.

Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh has issued a document responding to the petition of voters of Hung Yen province sent before the 10th Session of the 15th National Assembly.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Home Affairs received a petition from voters of Hung Yen province sent by the National Assembly's Petition and Supervision Committee with a number of contents on salaries and allowances.

Voters in Hung Yen province proposed to consider and issue appropriate salary and allowance policies for cadres, civil servants and public employees after the merger because the workload is large, and the requirements for meeting the work are increasingly high.

At the same time, there is a suitable roadmap and policy for each next stage in accordance with the practical situation.

Responding to this content, Minister Do Thanh Binh said that, in order to carry out the tasks assigned by the Politburo in Conclusions 174, 186, 206, the Ministry of Home Affairs is coordinating with relevant ministries and agencies to study and propose salary policies and adjust a number of related allowance regimes for cadres, civil servants, public employees, armed forces, and workers after the reorganization of the apparatus and the organization of local governments at 2 levels.

According to the Minister, in the immediate future, to improve the lives of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers, the Ministry of Home Affairs will coordinate with the Ministry of Finance and relevant ministries and agencies to continue reporting to competent authorities for consideration and decision to increase the basic salary in 2026.

This ensures compliance with the consumer price index, economic growth rate and the capacity of the state budget - Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh emphasized.

Previously, the National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution of the 10th Session of the 15th National Assembly. The National Assembly requested to adjust some types of allowances, basic salary, pension, social insurance allowance, monthly allowance, preferential allowance for meritorious people, social allowance, and social pension allowance according to Conclusion No. 206-KL/TW dated November 10, 2025 of the Politburo.

From January 1, 2026, regional minimum wage will increase

The current basic salary applied from July 1, 2024 is 2.34 million VND.

According to Decree 293/2025 of the Government, from January 1, 2026, the minimum wage for employees working under labor contracts will increase from 250,000 - 350,000 VND/month.

Specifically, region I: increased by 350,000 VND, from 4,960,000 VND/month to 5,310,000 VND/month. Region II: increased by 320,000 VND, from 4,410,000 VND/month to 4,730,000 VND/month. Region III: increased by 280,000 VND from 3,860,000 VND/month to 4,140,000 VND/month. Region IV: increased by 250,000 VND from 3,450,000 VND/month to 3,700,000 VND/month.

The minimum hourly wage in region I increases from 23,800 VND/hour to 25,500 VND/hour, region II from 21,200 VND/hour to 22,700 VND/hour, region III from 18,600 VND/hour to 20,000 VND/hour, region IV from 16,600 VND/hour to 17,800 VND/hour.
