The grassroots trade union of Hwaseung Rach Gia Company Limited (Thanh Loc Industrial Park, An Giang) has just organized a support handover ceremony for 2 union members in difficult circumstances with a total amount of nearly 60 million VND. Both union members have young children with serious illnesses.
Ms. Ton Nu My Hanh, Chairman of the Trade Union of Hwaseung Rach Gia Company Limited, said that the entire amount was contributed by union members and workers in the company.
The first case is the family of Ms. Wei Thi Diem, residing in Thanh Yen hamlet, Thanh Loc commune. Her child has a serious illness, often vomits and bleeds, and is being treated at Children's Hospital 1 (HCMC). The doctor has not yet determined the cause.
The family has 6 members, an old mother, 3 young children; her husband works at sea but has just had an accident and broke his arm, temporarily losing the ability to work. Ms. Diem's family life, which was already difficult, has now become even more difficult.
At the Company's Office, the Trade Union gave Ms. Diem more than 31 million VND.
The second case is Ms. Thi My Vien, currently renting a room with her husband and two young children. The older child in grade 3 was sent back to be cared for by his grandmother. The second child had a congenital heart disease and needed surgery at a cost of about 70 million VND - beyond the family's unstable income.
The Trade Union directly went to Ms. Vien's rented room and gave her more than 25 million VND in support so that she could have the funds to examine her child.
Ms. Ton Nu My Hanh said that the mobilization to support the two cases above demonstrates the spirit of mutual love of the Hwaseung Rach Gia collective of workers, and at the same time affirmed the role of the trade union organization in practically caring for union members in especially difficult circumstances.
This support activity not only helps families have more conditions to treat their children's illnesses but also spreads the value of sharing in the working community. Many workers said that even though their income is not high, they are still willing to contribute a small part to help their colleagues overcome the difficult period.
