Considering the health of workers and people as the center of the development process
The program is organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in coordination with the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, taking place this morning (May 10) at 3/2 Square, Bac Giang ward, Bac Ninh province.
Speaking at the opening of the program, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that in recent years, Trade Union levels have made many efforts to implement health care activities, improve working conditions, and prevent work accidents and occupational diseases for workers and laborers.

However, reality also poses many new challenges: increasing work pressure, the risk of occupational diseases, infectious diseases, and non-communicable diseases is increasingly common; the physical and mental health of workers is greatly affected in the context of digital transformation and changes in new production models.
This requires a strong shift from thinking to action, from "healing" to "proactive disease prevention", from passive care to improving the self-protection capacity of each worker," said the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan said that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized a "pilot" program in Bac Ninh. The scale of today's examination is 3,000 people, including general examination and specialized examination.
The total number of examinations in Bac Ninh province is 10,000 people. After today, examinations will be conducted at boarding houses, worker dormitories, and businesses.

The program aims to respond to Resolution 72 of the Politburo and Directive 17 of the Prime Minister, which emphasizes "prevention is better than cure".
We must cultivate healthy habits and lifestyles, ensure living and eating to have good health. Consider the health of workers and people as the center of the development process," said Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan.
Worker health care closely linked to economic development goals
Also speaking at the program, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Thai said that after the merger, Bac Ninh province continues to be one of the leading dynamic industrial development centers in the country with more than 800,000 workers, including more than 600,000 trade union members - a large force, playing an important core role for the province's development.
Over the past time, the province has paid special attention to workers through synchronous policies to improve living standards, stabilize labor relations and protect the legitimate rights of workers.

Besides the positive results, workers are still facing many difficulties and pressures: High labor intensity, long working hours, the working environment in some places still poses potential risks to health (dust, chemicals, noise,...); periodic health care conditions at enterprises in some units are still limited.
A part of workers still have a subjective mentality, reluctant to have health check-ups because they are afraid of affecting their jobs and income," said Mr. Nguyen Hong Thai.
Responding to the program organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Bac Ninh province is committed to continuing to consider caring for and protecting the health of workers and laborers as a regular and long-term political task, closely linked to development goals.
Continue to bring health care activities to factories, boarding houses, and industrial parks - not to let workers have to fend for themselves alone in the face of health problems.
We will also continue to promote the implementation of 29 social housing projects with the goal of completing 20,480 units in 2026; synchronously developing trade union facilities, grassroots health systems, cultural and sports facilities in industrial parks; expanding policies to support education and health for children of workers, so that each worker can truly "settle down - work" in Bac Ninh land," said the Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Thai also thanked the doctors, nurses, and volunteers for dedicating their precious Sunday to medical examinations and health consultations for workers - an action full of responsibility and imbued with the spirit of "biological doctors are like mothers".
At the program, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor presented 100 gifts to workers and laborers in difficult circumstances in the province.
Moved to receive timely attention
Attending the program, many workers and laborers of Bac Ninh province expressed their emotion at the concern, support, and sharing from the Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and local leaders.
Ms. Cao Thi Phuong (54 years old), a lecturer at Vietnam-Korea College of Technology, shared that bone cancer has affected her life as well as her work and family, but she always strives to complete her work tasks well.
This is a very timely encouragement, helping me have more spirit to treat my illness, overcome difficulties and complete the assigned tasks," said Ms. Cao Thi Phuong.

Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Huong, a worker at Luxshare company (Quang Chau Industrial Park, Bac Ninh) shared that she was really touched to participate in the free medical examination program and also received gifts from the Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
For us workers, this concern is not only a material gift but also a great source of spiritual encouragement.
Many times, because of saving costs, workers have less conditions to go for periodic health check-ups. Now being examined attentively and given thoughtful health advice, I feel more secure to continue working and taking care of my family.

Especially, when directly receiving gifts and greetings from the leaders of the General Confederation, I clearly felt the concern of the Trade Union organization for workers. That makes us feel shared, respected and have more motivation to stick with our work," Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Huong shared.
