The Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor has just organized the handover of the Trade Union Shelter to union member Mai Thi Thiem, residing in Rach Nui Hamlet, Thuan Yen Commune, Ha Tien City.
Union member Mai Thi Thiem participates in activities at the Union of Cu Dut Primary and Secondary School, Ha Tien City. She is a teacher with 10 years of experience in the classroom, and her husband works at the Military Command of Binh San Ward.
Ms. Thiem's family is raising a young child and an elderly mother. Before having the Trade Union Shelter, from 2019 until now, Ms. Thiem and her husband have been living in the warehouse of the Military Command of Binh San Ward. Understanding the difficult circumstances of the family of union member Thiem, the Executive Committee of the grassroots Trade Union proposed that the higher-level Trade Union consider supporting the union member to build a house from the "Trade Union Shelter" Fund.
After more than 2 months of construction, the house was completed with a total cost of 200 million VND. Of which, the Trade Union Shelter Fund supported 50 million VND, the rest was contributed by the family and additional bank loans.
Having a new house, union member Thiem emotionally shared: “Having a separate home for my small family after many years living in a warehouse, I am very happy. The spacious and cozy house was also put into use very promptly at this time, which is much less worrying during storms. The family is extremely grateful to the Trade Union for creating favorable conditions to support the family to build a new house, have a place to settle down, work with peace of mind”.
At the house handover ceremony, Vice President of Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor Trang Thi Bich Ngoc sent her congratulations and hoped that union members would continue to strive to fulfill their assigned tasks, take care of their families, and preserve and renovate the house.
On this occasion, the Provincial Federation of Labor also gave a gift to congratulate union members on their new home.
