Pressure surrounding the job of raising children
The preschool teacher profession is not considered a subject working in arduous, toxic, or dangerous sectors and occupations, but it has great pressure on work and working time. Therefore, many opinions of National Assembly deputies and relevant agencies agreed to propose reducing the retirement age for preschool teachers according to the regimes stipulated in the draft law.
Having been attached to the profession of preschool teacher since graduating for 7-8 years, teacher Nguyen Thi Hong Toan - Teacher at Clever Kid Kindergarten (Vinsmart City Urban Area, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi) shared that every day of preschool teachers begins with crying, not the drumming like other levels of education. Teachers not only teach, but also lure, clean, care - repeat it to dozens of children and have no rest time, even at noon.
I think if anyone has ever been in preschool, they will understand that this is not just a job, but a long journey of love. The proposal to reduce the retirement age is really necessary, not to let us "rest early", but to be the right recognition of a quiet, hard job and consuming energy every day" - Ms. Toan shared.
Ms. Kieu Thi Tuyet Mai (Kinder House Kinder House, Gamuda Urban Area, Hoang Mai) shared that many preschool teachers often suffer from occupational diseases such as back pain, loudspeakers... due to the nature of their work.
"With the current retirement age of 55-60, it is difficult for us to continue running, dancing, singing and accompanying our children fully."
Humanitarian policies for private preschool teachers
According to Master of Education Psychology Nguyen Mai Duyen - Director of Qibi Academy Training Institute, preschool teachers in the public environment will have a clearer promotion roadmap while for private teachers, age is a limitation.
For the public environment, when teachers reach a certain age, they can be transferred or promoted to a management position, while for private kindergartens, there is almost no promotion roadmap for teachers, said Ms. Duyen.
According to Duyen, if this proposal is made, it will help reduce the psychological and physical burden for the older teachers, pave the way for the generation transfer, and create conditions for teachers to rest when they have devoted themselves. This is also a positive social message, showing the importance of raising children. However, without a parallel strategy, reducing retirement age can cause temporary shortage of personnel, especially in the context of the preschool industry is lacking teachers in many localities. However, if thoroughly studied, this may be an opportunity to restructure human resources.
