Actively implement the Resolution of the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union
At the meeting, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor reported on the organization and operation of the Vietnam Trade Union in 2024; reported on the coordination work to implement Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW, dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on innovation of organization and operation of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation.
Accordingly, from the beginning of 2024 until now, trade unions at all levels have actively organized and implemented the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, concretizing the theme of trade union activities in 2024: Focus on bringing the resolutions of trade union congresses at all levels into life; compete to achieve achievements to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union.
Continue to perform well the role of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights of union members and workers. In particular, the Trade Union organization has actively researched, proposed and participated in the development and implementation of policies and laws related to the rights of workers, such as: Law on Social Insurance (amended), Law on Land (amended), Law on Employment (amended)... In particular, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor focused on developing and completing the draft Trade Union Law (amended) to report to the Social Committee of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, submit to the National Assembly for comments at the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly, continue to complete and submit to the National Assembly for consideration and approval at the 8th session.
Activities to care for union members and workers continue to receive attention and achieve results, especially during the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024. Over 10.5 million union members and workers have benefited from Tet care activities organized by the Union, with a total amount of more than 7 trillion VND (an increase of 28% in the number of people, an increase of 15% in funding compared to 2023).
The program "Tet Sum Vay - Spring Sharing" is proactively organized, focusing on the grassroots level with rich and diverse activities, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate.
Responding to the call of General Secretary and President To Lam and the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to mobilize support for people to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has called on and mobilized cadres, union members and workers to support more than 1,316 billion VND; promptly organized working delegations to directly visit, encourage and give gifts to union members and workers in localities that suffered heavy damage.
The Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has just decided and issued regulations on supporting orphaned children of union members and workers who died due to storm No. 3 (Yagi) through the form of giving "Union and children continue to step forward" Savings Books.
Emulation movements launched by the trade union, focusing on the Excellent Labor and Creative Labor movements, actively responded to emulation movements launched by the Prime Minister, took place enthusiastically, attracting a large number of workers, civil servants and laborers to participate.
According to reports from trade unions at all levels, more than 5,000 products, projects, and tasks were recognized with a total value of more than 1 trillion VND, and more than 225,000 initiatives were recognized and applied in practice with a total value of more than 2 trillion VND.
Introduce 385,663 outstanding members for the Party to consider and admit
Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu said that since Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on "Innovation of organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation" was issued, trade union activities continued to have many innovations, towards substance and bringing more benefits to union members and workers; receiving deeper attention from Party committees and authorities at all levels...
Over the past 3 years, trade unions at all levels have been determined to implement Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW and Program No. 02/Ctr-BCH and have achieved some remarkable results - completing and exceeding a number of annual targets.
Accordingly, on average, every year, more than 10 million union members and workers are educated out of a total of 11.3 million union members nationwide, reaching 88%, exceeding the target of 18%.
In 2021, trade unions at all levels admitted 753,255 new members, reaching 125% of the target. In 2022, trade unions at all levels admitted 1,052,444 members, reaching 161.9%. In 2023, trade unions at all levels admitted 858,886 members, reaching 132%.
Attention has been paid to the work of introducing and developing the Party among workers, civil servants and laborers. During the 3 years of implementing Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW, trade unions at all levels have introduced 385,663 outstanding union members for the Party to consider and admit (meeting and exceeding the set target).
Patriotic emulation movements among workers and employees are organized by the Trade Union on a large scale and in depth. The program "75 thousand initiatives to overcome difficulties and develop" and the program "1 million initiatives - efforts to overcome difficulties, creativity, determination to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic" launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor during the period of preventing and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and welcoming the congresses of trade unions at all levels and the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union have achieved good results, affirming the role of trade unions in building and developing the country.
On behalf of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu made a recommendation to the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization.
“The Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor respectfully requests the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization to coordinate with the Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to conduct a survey of a number of provincial and municipal Party Committees on the results of the implementation of Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW. Together with the Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, propose to competent authorities to increase the number of full-time trade union officials for the Vietnam Trade Union. Coordinate with the Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in completing a number of pilot projects to submit to competent authorities” - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu said.
