Children whose parents died in storm No. 3 were given savings books by the Union

Hà Anh |

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has just issued a Decision on supporting orphaned children of union members and workers who died due to storm No. 3 (Yagi).

On November 13, Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has decided and issued regulations on supporting orphaned children of union members and workers who died due to storm No. 3 (Yagi) through the form of giving "Union and children continue to step forward" Savings Books.

The beneficiaries are children under 16 years old whose father or mother, or both father and mother, are union members or workers with labor contracts (including cases where the father or mother is a single person) who died due to storm No. 3 (Yagi). In case the union member or worker who died adopts a child, all legal procedures regarding conditions, procedures, and procedures for adoption must be fully ensured.

In case both parents die but only one is a union member, the employee is still entitled to this policy and is entitled to the regime for children of union members and employees whose parents die.

Regarding the form of support, the Vietnam Trade Union will give "Trade Union and Children Continue Step by Step" savings books to orphans under 16 years old who are children of union members or workers whose father or mother or both parents died due to storm No. 3 (Yagi).

The savings book is given to the child's legal guardian, including the father or mother, or a legal guardian certified by a competent authority. Only the child's legal guardian can receive and manage the "Vietnam Trade Union Savings Book" on behalf of the child according to the principle of "1 book, only 1 guardian manages".

Every year, at the beginning of the new school year or on the occasion of Lunar New Year, the Union coordinates with the guardian to withdraw the deposit interest to give to the children, close the book and hand over the principal when the children turn 18. In case the children have moved to another place of residence, the guardian is responsible for receiving the book and taking care of the children according to regulations.

In case the children's families (including children or guardians or both) have moved out of the locality where the union member or worker died due to Typhoon Yagi), the locality where the children are receiving the cases of children eligible for support regarding their place of residence will be the unit directly in charge of carrying out the procedures to support giving savings books to the children, and at the same time contact the local Labor Federation where the children's parents are union members or workers who died due to Typhoon Yagi to confirm that the union member or worker who died due to Typhoon Yagi is the child's parent and has not yet completed the procedures to receive support for the Vietnam Trade Union's savings book (this document replaces the list of children receiving savings books with confirmation from the grassroots trade union).

The children's families must ensure that they provide complete documents as prescribed in this Decision.

According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the support level for children under 16 years old whose father or mother is a union member or a deceased worker will be given a savings book worth 10,000,000 VND/child; for children under 16 years old whose father or mother is a union member or a deceased worker will be given a savings book worth 20,000,000 VND/child (including cases where the father or mother is a single person). The support period is before December 31, 2024.
