Choice to serve the people
With more than 30 years of attachment to the medical industry, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung currently concurrently holds two important positions as Deputy Director and Chairman of the Trade Union of Da Nang Hospital.
In both positions, he chose a way of working that he considered closer to President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, especially serving the people with specific actions.
In professional work, Mr. Trung is assigned to be in charge of the internal medicine system, emergency, medical examination, paraclinical, information technology, disease prevention and control, procurement bidding and many other important areas of the hospital.
Despite the large workload, he still maintains regular meetings and briefings to listen to collective opinions, promote the spirit of democracy and responsibility of each department and division.
In 2024 and 2025, in the context that the number of patients coming for examination and treatment is always overloaded, the collective of Da Nang Hospital still completed and exceeded the assigned professional targets. Behind that result is the effort of the whole collective, including the operating and coordinating role of the direct leader in charge of expertise like Mr. Trung.
It is noteworthy that in all activities, he always emphasizes the medical ethics factor. The thorough implementation of professional regulations, improving the spirit and attitude of service, and not discriminating against patients is considered by him a consistent requirement for the hospital's staff and employees.
Sharing his views, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung said: "Learning from Uncle Ho is not too great. For medical professionals, learning from Uncle Ho is first of all wholeheartedly for patients, respecting patients; for trade union workers, it is necessary to care for and practically care for union members and workers. Every day doing your job well is also a way to follow Uncle Ho.
Devoting heart to caring for union members
If in the role of professional leader, Mr. Trung puts patients at the center, then in the position of Chairman of the Trade Union, he devotes a lot of enthusiasm to caring for the lives of union members.
Under the management of the Executive Committee of the Da Nang Hospital Trade Union, many welfare policies for nearly 2,000 union members are maintained and expanded. The Trade Union regularly proposes to the government regimes that benefit workers, from holiday and Tet bonuses to programs to support union members in difficult circumstances.
The spirit of learning from Uncle Ho is also reflected in the launch of creative labor emulation movements. In 2025 alone, Da Nang Hospital had 18 recognized innovation initiatives, including 2 initiatives on administrative procedure reform; 93 grassroots-level scientific research projects and 2 city-level projects recognized.
Besides, there are humane activities such as voluntary blood donation with about 450 units of blood per year; mobilizing union members to contribute billions of VND to social funds, supporting people affected by natural disasters, building new rural areas, caring for the poor and humanitarian addresses.
From those results, the Da Nang Hospital Trade Union has been continuously recognized with many noble awards, including the Emulation Flag of the City Labor Federation in 2024 and the Emulation Flag of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in 2025.
The fact that Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung was praised by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor as an advanced example of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style is not only a recognition for him personally but also a testament to the spread of studying and following Uncle Ho in the team of health sector trade union officials.
Because in the end, the value of studying Uncle Ho does not lie in slogans or achievement reports, but is expressed in specific daily actions. For Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, it is dedication to patients, responsibility to union members and the spirit of continuous dedication to the community.
