On May 19, at the Forum "Trade Union members studying and following Uncle Ho's ideology, ethics, and style to compete in good labor, high productivity, and good income" organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Mr. Hoang Phuc Long - Chairman of the Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture Trade Union Vietsovpetro, Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group Trade Union, gave a presentation on the topic "Studying and following Uncle Ho, Trade Unions pay attention to caring for building workers with strong intellect, strong physical strength, bright spirit, working effectively, and higher productivity every day" in the content section "Promoting good labor, high productivity, and good income".
The Chairman of the Vietnam-Russia Joint Venture Trade Union Vietsovpetro mentioned President Ho Chi Minh's deep concern for the working class and trade union organization; and according to him, the Trade Union must take care of life, protect health, labor safety and improve the cultural and technical level of workers to affirm that those teachings still retain their value today, especially in the context of the country entering a new stage of development with increasingly high requirements for human resource quality, labor productivity, digital transformation and sustainable development.
Mr. Hoang Phuc Long said that for Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group and Vietsovpetro, workers regularly work in a special environment, harsh conditions, high pressure on progress and strict safety requirements. Many people have to work for many days on drilling rigs, ships or in remote areas, living conditions are still difficult.
The Group Trade Union and Vietsovpetro Trade Union determined that caring for material and spiritual life and building a comprehensively developed workforce is a central task throughout. Studying and following Uncle Ho is concretized by practical and close-to-work activities with union members and workers; in which, focusing on building a team of "strong intellect, strong physical strength, bright mental strength", so that workers can feel secure in sticking with and contributing to the development of Petrovietnam.
Firm intellect, strong physique, bright mind
According to the Chairman of the Trade Union of Vietsovpetro Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture, first of all, it is to build "strong intellect" through caring for improving professional qualifications, professional skills, innovative thinking and the constantly learning spirit of workers.
At Petrovietnam and Vietsovpetro, the emulation movements "Good Labor - Creative Labor", "Petrovietnam Innovation", "Promoting Initiatives and Inventions" have truly become a driving force to promote innovation throughout the unit. In just 3 years of implementing the "Petrovietnam Innovation" movement alone, there have been more than 5,000 innovations and solutions applied with a profit value of more than 20,000 billion VND. Vietsovpetro alone in the 2023-2025 period has 392 initiatives and solutions bringing a profit value of nearly 30 million USD.
Many initiatives not only come from major topics but also originate from the daily labor practices of workers on oil rigs, at mechanical workshops or on service ships. The spirit of proactive thinking, daring to innovate, and daring to take responsibility has become a beautiful feature in the labor culture of oil and gas workers.
The Trade Union proactively coordinates to organize skills competitions, initiative forums, skills training, digital transformation; propose policies to support workers to self-study and improve their professional qualifications. After long working shifts at sea, many engineers and workers still take advantage of studying, researching materials, and exchanging expertise to improve their qualifications. That is the spirit of self-study, responsibility and aspiration to contribute that studying and following Uncle Ho has deeply spread among oil and gas workers.
Second, pay attention to building workers with good physical strength, because health is the foundation for maintaining labor efficiency and ensuring production safety.
At Vietsovpetro, mass sports activities are maintained regularly and widely with many sports such as football, volleyball, badminton, tennis, running, swimming... not only creating healthy playgrounds but also helping workers improve their health, train their will and strengthen solidarity.
Especially, at sea projects, although conditions are still difficult, workers still maintain the habit of exercising after working hours. Many drilling rigs take advantage of small spaces to arrange training areas; jogging, weightlifting, table tennis, shuttlecock kicking... activities are maintained regularly to improve physical fitness and reduce psychological pressure after stressful working shifts. Vietsovpetro Trade Union established sports clubs, developed training materials, and coordinated with medical experts to provide appropriate health care for each workforce group.
Not only taking care of physical health, the Trade Union also pays special attention to the spiritual life of workers through many cultural and artistic activities, collective exchanges, sightseeing, resorts and social security programs, contributing to building a united, compassionate and humane working environment under the common roof of Petrovietnam.
Third, cultivate "spiritual energy", build corporate culture, sense of responsibility, discipline, love of the profession and aspiration to contribute in each union member and employee.
Oil and gas workers today not only work for income but also for professional pride, responsibility to the collective and the desire to contribute to the development of the country. This is what has created the identity of Petrovietnam workers: "Aspiration - Intelligence - Professionalism - Affection".
There are workers who have been attached to sea projects for decades, overcoming many difficulties but still dedicated to their work; there are collectives working day and night, holidays, Tet to ensure safe and continuous exploitation; many young engineers are willing to take on tasks in harsh environments to train and contribute. These are vivid manifestations of the spirit of responsibility, will to overcome difficulties and dedicated, practical working style that studying and following Uncle Ho has cultivated in today's oil and gas workers.
At Vietsovpetro, when employees are comprehensively cared for, facilitated to develop and inspired to contribute, they will be more attached to the unit, more proactive and creative in their work and directly contribute to production and business efficiency. After 45 years of construction and development, Vietsovpetro has exploited over 250 million tons of oil, achieved revenue of over 90 billion USD and paid over 60 billion USD to the Vietnamese State budget.
From those results, we deeply realize that: studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style begins to be dedicated to caring for workers, from responsibility to union members and practical actions for people, for the sustainable development of the unit.
