Can Tho City Employment Service Center has just announced the labor market forecast for the last 6 months of 2026.
The Center said that the Vietnamese labor market in the first 6 months of 2026 recorded many positive signs when jobs and income increased, the unemployment rate and unemployment were controlled, and the labor structure shifted in a positive direction.
However, the labor market still faces challenges such as uneven quality of human resources, high unofficial labor, along with pressure from artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation and the shortage of high-quality human resources.
For Can Tho, along with economic growth and increased recruitment demand in many fields, the labor market is forecast to continue to maintain a positive trend in the last 6 months of 2026. Labor supply is also expected to increase, focusing on the fields of engineering - technology, processing - manufacturing, logistics, trade - services and healthcare, and high-quality education.
The labor market in Can Tho city in the last 6 months of 2026 is forecast to continue to grow positively, but there is still a possibility of a shortage of high-quality human resources. According to the Center, the digital transformation process and the application of AI will continue to change the job structure, creating new job opportunities but also increasing pressure on workers who have not yet adapted to the new requirements of the market.
The Center also noted that increased recruitment demand does not mean that job opportunities are divided equally, because businesses are increasingly setting higher standards for professional qualifications, skills and adaptability of workers. Therefore, workers need to proactively improve digital skills, technology skills and lifelong learning ability to meet new market requirements.
To improve the quality of AI training and encourage workers to master technology, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong - former Director of the Institute of Labor Science and Social Affairs (Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, now the Ministry of Home Affairs) - said that it is necessary to focus on groups of solutions.
First of all, it is necessary to strengthen digital skills training in parallel with soft skills such as critical thinking, communication and cooperation. In addition, the education and vocational training system needs to innovate programs in a direction associated with practice, integrating AI and digital technologies into teaching, and at the same time strengthening practical content.
Building a mechanism to encourage lifelong learning is also very important. The State and businesses need to support workers to participate in regular skills training courses through human resource development funds, internal training programs and self-study encouragement policies" - she said.
Businesses also need to create a working environment that encourages innovation, strengthens the application of AI, invests in digital infrastructure and encourages employees to share experiences and initiatives in the process of applying technology to work.
The Can Tho City Employment Service Center believes that job opportunities in the last 6 months of the year will continue to expand but come with increasingly high requirements for qualifications and skills. The proactive adaptation of workers and connection solutions between management agencies and businesses will contribute to meeting human resource needs and sustainable development of the local labor market.
