Sharing part of the worries before the day my child returns to school
The new school year always entails many expenses for each family. For workers, when income must be balanced between house rent, living expenses and many essential needs, preparing books, uniforms, and school supplies for children sometimes also becomes a difficult problem.
Therefore, gifts given before the school opening day are meaningful at the right time. The value of a backpack or school supplies may not be large, but that is the expense that parents are shared.
Ms. Thu Mai, a worker in Trang Bang ward, shared: "My family is a worker, and the expenses for my children at the beginning of the school year are also a burden. Being given backpacks and school supplies by the Trade Union, my family is very happy because we have reduced a part of the expenses. More importantly, my children have more joy and motivation before entering the new school year.
Ms. Mai's family story is also the reason why activities for workers have received more attention in recent years. Because caring for workers is not only about salaries, jobs or direct support, but also related to the lives of family members.
In the summer of 2026, the Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation coordinated with the Provincial Youth Union to organize 8 propaganda classes on children's rights, gender equality, and life skills associated with experiential activities at 4 locations in the province. More than 2,000 primary and secondary school students participated, including children of union members, workers, civil servants, laborers and students in difficult circumstances.
It is noteworthy that the children are not just sitting and listening to propaganda. Contents about self-protection skills, communication, behavior, and teamwork are conveyed through games, exchanges and situation handling. For many children, this is a time to learn, play and have more experiences that not every family has the conditions to organize themselves during days when parents are still busy with work.
Along with the experience activity, 200 sets of smart English reading markers were awarded to primary school students in difficult circumstances and 2,000 backpacks were sent to children participating in the program.
Taking care of children is also taking care of workers.
Behind the gifts at the beginning of the school year is a broader story about the lives of workers. When children are partially supported with tuition fees, parents have an additional amount to save for other family needs. When children have a safe playground during the summer, workers are also somewhat more reassured during working hours.
This is also the way the Trade Union organization brings care activities closer to the actual life of union members.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation Tran Le Duy said that although the material value of the gifts is not large, they show concern and responsibility for the children of union members, workers, and laborers, especially those who are still in difficult circumstances.
From the backpack before the opening day to experiential activities in the summer, the care for workers' children is therefore not only in the value of the gift. It is also the companionship with parents - those who are working every day to take care of their families.
