Ms. Pham Thi Sen (42 years old, Ha Nam) - grocery store owner said that the profit earned after deducting all expenses was only about 10 million VND/month. Currently, she is still participating in voluntary social insurance at a cost of 650,000 VND/month.
With the new regulation, Ms. Sen must pay at least 25% of the reference level (current reference level is the basic salary - VND 2,340,000).
"The actual payment is less than 600,000 VND, but I enjoy more benefits" - Ms. Sen said.
Previously participating in voluntary social insurance, Ms. Sen said she only enjoyed some benefits. Paying compulsory social insurance, she enjoys full health benefits, maternity benefits... so she is very willing to participate.

Every year, Ms. Sen still has to buy additional health insurance for medical examination and treatment. Therefore, Ms. Sen's compulsory social insurance participation policy meets her needs.
According to the Law on Social Insurance 2024, business owners will be able to choose their salary as the basis for compulsory social insurance contributions, but the lowest must be at the reference level and the highest must be 20 times the reference level at the time of contribution.
For her, the minimum amount of compulsory social insurance payment is within her monthly payment ability, so it does not affect her daily life.
Discussing the period of more than 2 years of voluntary social insurance payment, Ms. Sen said that she will continue when switching to compulsory social insurance payment. Ms. Sen's purpose is to hope to have a really high pension when she is old to ensure her life.
Ms. Tran Thi Gam (32 years old) - owner of a milk and diaper store in Thai Binh said that since quitting the company to open a store, her regret is not being able to participate in social insurance.
"I used to work so I understand how important social insurance is and the benefits. In my personal business, when I am stable and have an income equal to or better than when I started a company, I am willing to participate in compulsory social insurance to feel secure in the future" - Ms. Gam said.
Sharing more, Ms. Gam said that participating in compulsory social insurance is covered by health insurance, helping her feel secure when sick or having an accident. In case the business is difficult and must be dissolved, Ms. Gam is more assured because there is an unemployment allowance that supports some.
The 2024 Law on Social Insurance has stipulated the method and form of compulsory social insurance payment for business owners, the method of compulsory social insurance payment can be chosen as monthly, 3-month or 6-month payment.
As for the form of payment, it can be paid directly to the social insurance agency or paid through a business household.
