Application of information technology in teaching
Phan Dung mountainous commune is about 30km from Tuy Phong district center. From the district center, to get to Phan Dung commune, you have to go through forest roads, deserted mountain passes and spillways. Phan Dung Primary and Secondary School with 1 main school and 3 satellite schools are about 8km apart.
In 2007, Mr. Nguyen Huu Toan volunteered to go to the mountainous commune to teach, connecting with the people and the land of Phan Dung. Up to now, it has been 18 years that Mr. Toan has taught here. Currently, there are 222 students with 13 classes and a total of 25 teachers and staff working at the school.
As a secondary school Math and IT teacher, Mr. Toan always seeks new and good teaching methods that are suitable for the characteristics of students in highland schools. At the same time, he actively takes the lead in digital transformation, applying information technology in teaching and archiving records.
In management work, records and books such as lesson plans, teaching plans, professional records... are required by Mr. Toan for teachers to innovate and implement on the VNEdu ecosystem, Google Drive in statistics and reporting to save time and ensure accuracy in synthesis work. Thanks to that, primary and secondary school children in the mountainous commune of Phan Dung all have access to information technology and can operate computer applications well.
Sharing with reporters, Mr. Toan said that in the past, there were times when there was a shortage of equipment, but they were still arranged for students to practice computer skills. Now, the equipment is basically sufficient for teaching and learning, so we have to try harder.
Take good care of members
In particular, from mid-2021, Phan Dung commune became a commune of region I, no longer a commune of region III (a particularly difficult commune), so the policies to attract teachers in this commune no longer exist, many teachers currently teaching in Phan Dung wish to transfer jobs.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Toan and the school's Board of Directors have done a good job of propagating and mobilizing the school's teaching staff to overcome difficulties, persevere in staying at school, keeping classes, and motivating students to attend class regularly.
In addition, as the Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union, Mr. Toan listened to the aspirations of union members, maintained internal solidarity, and promoted democracy in the unit.
“The activities initiated by the direct superior trade union at the grassroots level are fully implemented at the grassroots trade union. The organization for union members to participate is suitable to the conditions and actual situation at the unit. Competitions are also regularly organized on special occasions such as November 20, March 8 and Union Meals are organized so that union members can have intimate meals together, chat and share to ease the sadness in the mountainous commune and do their job well” - Chairman of the grassroots trade union Nguyen Huu Toan shared more about union activities at the grassroots level.
In addition to practical union activities, the head of the grassroots union also encourages union members to register initiatives and solutions, fully participate in movements launched by the locality and higher-level unions such as mini-football tournaments, etc. Mobilize donors inside and outside the district to support the school's Student Insurance Fund, give gifts and scholarships to students on the occasion of the new school year opening.
Mr. Le Ngoc Linh - Chairman of the Labor Federation of Tuy Phong District, Binh Thuan - assessed that with outstanding achievements in expertise and trade union activities, Mr. Nguyen Huu Toan has been awarded certificates of merit by the District People's Committee and higher-level trade unions for many consecutive years. Mr. Toan has always been devoted to the cause of education and the trade union movement in the mountainous commune of Phan Dung, which is a very valuable thing.
