On March 13, a delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) led by Comrade Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, central mass organizations, Secretary of the Party Committee, President of VGCL, visited and encouraged units at Quang Trach Power Center.
Participating in the working delegation were comrades Nguyen Xuan Hung - Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; comrade Tran Thi Thanh Ha, Member of the Presidium, Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

At the working session, Comrade Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of the VGCL said that the resolutions and major orientations of the Central Government and the National Assembly in the past time all emphasized the requirement to ensure energy security, creating a foundation for the goal of high economic growth in the coming period. In which, key power source and grid projects, such as projects at Quang Trach Power Center, play a particularly important role for the national power system.
Recognizing the efforts of the team of officials, engineers, and workers at the construction site when many people returned to work right from the early days after Tet to ensure project progress, the President of the VGCL requested units to continue to promote the spirit of responsibility, ensure progress, quality and efficiency of the project.
The VGCL will continue to direct trade union levels to coordinate in launching emulation movements, especially emulation links between units participating in the construction of important power source and grid projects of Vietnam Electricity Group, in order to create a vibrant working atmosphere at the construction site.
Expressing confidence that the electricity industry will continue to develop strongly, making important contributions to ensuring national energy security and serving the socio-economic development of the country, Comrade Nguyen Anh Tuan also requested units to closely coordinate with local authorities, take good care of the lives of workers, and at the same time create conditions for workers to well fulfill their civic obligations, including participating in the election of the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
Leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour committed to continue to accompany and share with units in the system, support and encourage employees of Vietnam Electricity Group and contractors; strongly implement emulation movements, especially linked emulation movements, creating strong motivation for key national projects.
On this occasion, on behalf of the working delegation of the VGCL, Comrade Nguyen Anh Tuan visited, encouraged and presented gifts to union members and workers working at units on the construction site. This is a great encouragement and motivation for workers at the construction site, especially at an important time when the synchronous progress of Unit 1 of Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant must be completed in March 2026.
It is known that Quang Trach Power Center in Phu Trach commune, Quang Tri province is one of the key power centers of the Central region, including large projects such as Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant, Quang Trach II and III SNG Plants. When completed, these projects make a great contribution to the national power development goals, towards reducing CO2 emissions and protecting the environment, while fulfilling Vietnam's commitment to net zero emissions.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation also inspected the progress of the projects, listened to reports from the Power Project Management Board 2, EVNPMB2 on the construction items of Quang Trach Power Center. In particular, the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant Project has achieved a construction progress of 97.98%, and is expected to be grid-connected to Unit 1 in Quarter I/2026 and commercially generate electricity in May 2026.
In addition, Vietnam Electricity Group is actively implementing the Quang Trach II LNG Thermal Power Plant Project, with the goal of operating in 2030, and the Quang Trach III LNG Thermal Power Plant project is expected to be put into operation in the period 2031-2035. These projects not only contribute to providing stable power sources for the Central region but also contribute to minimizing negative impacts on the environment.
