After implementing the two-level local government model and merging provinces, the Lao Cai Industrial Parks Trade Union Board directly manages 91 grassroots trade unions with 14,560 workers (including 14,028 union members). The large, concentrated labor force in industrial parks requires trade unions to be proactive, flexible and strongly innovate their methods of operation.
From 2023 to present, industrial park trade unions at all levels have mobilized many resources to care for union members.
Over 32,000 union members and workers were visited and given gifts with a total cost of more than 20 billion VND through the activities "Workers' Month", "Combine Air Force Tower", "Union Tet Market". The union supported the repair and construction of 11 new "Union Shelters" with a budget of 470 million VND; supported 192 union members who lost their jobs due to a lack of orders by businesses with an amount of 126 million VND.
Notably, more than 17,000 union members participated in the "Union Meal", the support level increased by an average of 35,000 VND/person/meal. In addition, over 4,000 union members affected by natural disasters and floods have been supported with a total budget of more than 4 billion VND, promptly sharing difficulties and stabilizing their lives.
In parallel with taking care of the lives, the work of protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers is regularly deployed. The trade union participates in developing labor regulations, salary scales; negotiating and signing 11 quality collective labor agreements.
Coordinate with social insurance agencies to collect over VND2 billion in insurance debt to resolve the regime for employees; organize legal dissemination, periodic health check-ups, and occupational health check-ups for workers.
In the coming time, the trade unions of Lao Cai Industrial Parks determined to continue to innovate in the direction of taking workers as the center, promoting digital transformation, improving the quality of the staff and enhancing negotiation and supervision of labor law enforcement.
With the motto "Where there are workers, there is a Trade Union", the Lao Cai Industrial Parks Trade Union continues to affirm its role as a solid support for workers in the new development stage.
