Before the XIV Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, term 2026 – 2031, many Trade Union officials nationwide in general and in An Giang in particular expressed their thoughts, aspirations, opinions, proposals and expectations for the Trade Union organization in the new period. Thereby, contributing to reflecting the voice from the grassroots level, spreading the belief, spirit of responsibility and companionship of union members and workers (NLĐ) for the development of the Vietnam Trade Union organization in the new term.
According to Ms. Do Tuong Vi, Chairwoman of the Grassroots Trade Union of Loc Troi Group Joint Stock Company, the Trade Union organization needs to prioritize promoting welfare programs, practical care for housing, health, income and safe working conditions for employees. Strengthen dialogue with employees to grasp their thoughts and aspirations, and promptly solve problems arising at the grassroots level. Organize cultural, artistic, sports, and entertainment exchanges at least once a year to help union members and employees connect with each other, thereby feeling the concern and care from businesses.
According to Ms. Vi's assessment: "Cadres of grassroots trade unions need to be supported with conditions to successfully complete their tasks such as promoting legal advice, supporting union members when labor disputes occur. Supporting grassroots trade unions in cases where the role of grassroots trade unions is not valued and supported by business owners, even hindering and causing difficulties in operation.
Ms. Vi also expects the Congress to build a team of dynamic, responsible, and close-to-the-roots Trade Union officials, meeting development requirements in the new period. Promote propaganda on mobilizing employers to strengthen occupational safety and health training for workers at their units; fully equip labor protection for workers working at factories and production workshops, and organize periodic health check-ups for union members and workers.

Ms. Ton Nu My Hanh, Chairwoman of the Grassroots Trade Union of Hwaseung Rach Gia Co., Ltd., expressed that to better care for union members and employees, according to her, employees should be taken as the focus and cared for practically, meaningfully, and according to needs. From there, it shows the role of companionship, representativeness and prestige of the Trade Union organization.
To achieve this, Ms. Hanh proposed to prioritize building, fostering and improving the quality of the contingent of Trade Union officials, with intelligence, strength, heart, and vision to ensure the representativeness of union members and workers, and ensure the voice of the Trade Union organization. Research and innovate operating methods suitable to the changing period of the country, with specific historical significance to avoid formality and generality.
In all activities, it is necessary to put union members and workers at the center; Closely follow their actual needs, which are work security, wages, improving income to improve their lives; social insurance issues to ensure the future and other social security issues. Pay attention to housing issues for workers, have policies to support workers with young children, and promote the construction of Trade Union cultural institutions...
Ms. Hanh also shared that the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union takes place in a special time, after the merger, the country is making new progress, entering an era of striving, requiring many changes and developments in line with the new trend.
I expect the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union to propose many practical solutions in operation, close to the actual situation of FDI enterprises with a large labor force; enhance the representative role, protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers. At the same time, pay more attention to life, income, welfare, safe and stable working environment in the context of digital transformation and competitive pressure," Ms. Hanh said.
