Grassroots trade unions take good care of the lives of union members and workers
On the afternoon of October 9, the survey delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor led by Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu worked in Dong Nai province, surveying the situation of labor relations, workers and trade unions to serve the development of strategies for adapting and developing Vietnamese trade unions in the new situation.
At the meeting, Mr. Dinh Sy Phuc - Chairman of the Trade Union of Taekwang Vina Joint Stock Company (Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park, Tran Bien Ward) shared good and need-to- replicate trade union activities such as: Creating channels from phones, messages, Zalo, Facebook to listen to and respond to workers' recommendations and concerns; Organizing dialogues with workers every week, monthly dialogues with the company's Board of Directors; Donations to support cases of workers who have accidents, serious illnesses, workers who have unfortunately passed away; Supporting and guaranteeing workers to borrow capital from credit institutions such as CEP funds, banks...
Thanks to the good care from the grassroots union, 100% of the company's employees are union members (about 34,000 people).
Regarding the protection of legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, Mr. Vu Ngoc Ha - Director of the Trade Union Legal Consulting Center (abbreviated as the Center) said: Recently, the situation of social insurance debts at enterprises has caused workers to suffer many serious disadvantages. The Center has always accompanied, consulted, supported, and represented workers to sue businesses and claim legitimate and legal rights. The results have won many cases to ensure the rights of workers. Each year, the Center supports more than 100 cases related to social insurance.
Notably, this year the Grassroots Trade Union Support Center filed a lawsuit against a business that requested an annual salary increase. After that, the court held a mediation, the enterprise agreed to increase the salary for employees according to the collective labor agreement signed by the union and the company.
Dong Nai to build 65,000 social housing units in the 2025-2030 term
Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor Nguyen Quoc Dung said that Dong Nai has identified a focus on building social housing (NOXH) and cultural - educational - medical institutions to serve union members and workers. The Resolution for the 2025-2030 term of the Provincial Party Committee also stipulates the construction of at least 65,000 social housing units out of the total demand for 200,000 social housing units, ensuring workers' lives.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu assessed the results of building labor relations in the area as comprehensive and quite solid. The work of representing and caring for the protection of workers' rights in Dong Nai province has been implemented methodically and achieved many results.
