The union helps workers get back more than 4 billion VND

From the discovery of the grassroots trade union (CDCS), Nidec Vietnam Company (Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park) is paying an estimated VND4 billion in unpaid salary allowances to employees.

Surprised to receive salary allowances

On December 19, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, production manager of Nidec Vietnam Company, said that when he received his salary for July 2025 (on August 8, 2025), he was very surprised to see that his salary was more than normal. Through investigation, Mr. Tung learned that his July salary included the salary allowance for positions that he received from July 2022 to June 2024 but the company had not paid before.

Mr. Tung happily shared: "We really didn't know that there was an allowance, so we didn't ask the company to pay for the whole time. This amount of money was discovered and helped by the Trade Union.

Similarly, Ms. Than Thi Cam Hong, Deputy Head of the Production Team of Nidec Vietnam Company, said that she also received the allowance that the company had not paid to the employees.

Ms. Hong said that she started working for Nidec Company in October 2022, so she only knew that she was paid her monthly salary and position allowance, but did not know that in addition to salary, there was another allowance negotiated by the Trade Union with the Company's Board of Directors and implemented from July 2022.

"I am very happy to see the attention of the Trade Union as well as the company's compliance with the provisions of the law and according to the agreement with the Trade Union," said Ms. Hong.

Grasp the law and properly perform the functions of the trade union organization

Mr. Luu Kim Hong - Chairman of the Trade Union of Nidec Vietnam Company - informed that when the Trade Union negotiates with the Board of Directors to increase the regional minimum wage in 2022 according to Decree 38/2022/ND-CP, the two sides agree that in addition to salary, the company will pay position allowances to employees working in management from deputy management team or higher at a level of 70,000 VND/person/month to 1.5 million VND/person/month, depending on the position.

In July 2024, when continuing to negotiate with the company on implementing the regional minimum wage according to Decree 74/2024/ND-CP, Mr. Hong discovered that the company had not properly implemented the agreement on position allowances for employees since July 2022, in some forms such as: The company did not pay salary allowances to employees who started working after July 1, 2022 when they were in positions with allowances, when promoted, did not apply the new salary allowance level for new positions and did not add salary allowances to increase salaries when periodically evaluating.

From the above reality, the Trade Union has continuously discussed with the company's management board, requesting that the regulations agreed with the trade union since July 2022 must be implemented. At first, the company also had many opinions that the payment was not wrong, or that the above agreement only applied to employees present at the company at the time of the agreement in July 2022, not to those who came later and did not apply when increasing salaries, when evaluating periodically.

Mr. Hong quoted Article 90 of the 2019 Labor Code, which stipulates "salary including salary according to work, salary allowances and other supplements", to discuss with the company. After many meetings, the company's board of directors admitted the shortcomings and asked the union to sympathize. However, the union is determined to require the company to comply with regulations. Finally, Nidec Vietnam Company admitted its mistake and paid full salary allowances to employees.

There are about more than 1,000 employees who have and will be paid full salary allowances that the company has not received with an estimated amount of over 4 billion VND, including those who have quit their jobs, starting from August 2025 and lasting until March 2026. To achieve the above results, we must grasp the provisions of the law and resolutely perform the core function of the trade union organization as a representative to protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and employees, Mr. Hong shared.
