According to the plan, the Trade Union of Van Don Special Zone will launch the "Environmental Protection Self-Management Group" model at Quan Lan Island.
After the launching ceremony, trade union officials, union members and forces in the area will collect garbage and clean the environment at Quan Lan beach, Quan Lan communal house area, Quan Lan port and model flower garden in Quan Lan 1 village.
Ms. Le Thi Net - Chairwoman of Van Don Special Zone Trade Union - said: It is expected that on July 22, we will launch the model of the Self-Management Team for Environmental Protection. The model demonstrates the core role of the Trade Union organization in gathering, propagating, and mobilizing trade union officials, union members and workers to directly participate in environmental protection.
The Trade Union organization also connects villages, businesses, tourism businesses and functional forces to implement specific tasks. The activity is not only aimed at organizing environmental sanitation campaigns but also towards forming awareness and habits of preserving the landscape at agencies, businesses and communities.
Through this, each official and union member will become the core to spread a green lifestyle, contributing to building Quan Lan island and islands in the Van Don special zone to be green, clean, civilized, towards sustainable tourism development" - Ms. Net said.

Previously, on April 19, the Van Don Special Zone Trade Union launched the Dai Phong Electric Vehicle Union under the "Green Union" model for the first time on Quan Lan Island, aiming to build civilized, safe transportation services without direct emissions to serve tourists.
The project to build "green island, clean island, developed island" in islands belonging to Van Don special zone, sets a target that by 2030, 100% of island areas in the special zone will meet the criteria "green island, clean island"; no longer have prolonged waste residue points; the rate of waste collection and treatment reaches 95% or more; the amount of single-use plastic waste will be reduced by at least 80%.
Currently, the Van Don Special Zone Trade Union manages 95 grassroots trade unions with 2,537 union members. Bringing environmental protection into trade union activities not only contributes to building green, clean, and sustainable islands and seas, but also promotes the role and responsibility of the Trade Union organization in gathering and mobilizing union members to participate in solving community issues.
