At the forum “Connecting Businesses - 2024” jointly organized by Lao Dong Newspaper, the Management Board of Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Zones and the Da Nang City Labor Federation on the afternoon of October 9, Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Ha - Vice President of the Da Nang City Labor Federation - shared about the connection between the Trade Union organization and the business community.
Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Ha said that the Da Nang City Labor Federation is managing 1,800 grassroots unions with more than 120,000 union members in all different industries.
According to Ms. Ha, one of the main activities of the Trade Union is to take care of and protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers. However, another major activity, which is equally important, is to work with businesses to launch emulation movements, mobilize workers to share difficulties with businesses, comply with regulations and policies, etc. to ensure harmonious labor relations.
At the same time, when the business is doing well, the Trade Union will also support the workers to negotiate to improve the policies in the Collective Labor Agreement. "The Trade Union always accompanies the business, not opposes or confronts the business," Ms. Ha affirmed.
At the forum, Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Ha also shared with businesses a thought related to the fact that in the future, there will be another organization representing businesses, in addition to the Vietnam Trade Union organization, which is allowed to be established in businesses.
Objectively, when more than one worker representative organization is established in a business, there will be competition. And this is a good thing when the quality of care for workers is improved.
However, in reality, in some countries, negative issues have arisen when business owners have to accept many different proposals from many different organizations with different welfare requirements. This leads to fragmented care resources as well as a decrease in investment in employee welfare. "And this is something we do not want to happen in Da Nang, in Vietnam," said Ms. Ha.
Another problem is that there will certainly be some subjects who take advantage of the provisions of the law related to the establishment of organizations representing workers other than the Vietnam Trade Union to call for, incite, and cause labor unrest, affecting businesses and security and order in the area. This not only affects the harmonious relationship within businesses but also affects the investment environment of Da Nang.
“We are committed to always proactively taking care of and encouraging employees to comply with the company’s policies and the State’s laws. And in return, we hope that businesses will work together with the Trade Union, trust each other to maintain stable and harmonious labor relations as well as the investment environment,” said Ms. Ha.
