Ms. Nguyen Khanh Chi - Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Bank Union said that after 33 years of construction and growth (April 1, 1993 – April 1, 2026), the Vietnam Bank Union has continuously grown stronger, affirming its role as a reliable representative organization, protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and employees; and making important contributions to the stable and sustainable development of the Banking industry.
Established under Decision No. 480/QD-TLD, dated April 1, 1993 of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Bank Union was born in the context of the banking industry gradually innovating and integrating.
Since then, through 8 congresses, the Vietnam Bank Union has always been steadfast in the motto of solidarity - democracy - innovation - creativity - responsibility - efficiency, gradually innovating the content and methods of operation, putting union members and employees at the center.
Throughout the development journey, the Vietnam Bank Union has always closely followed the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the State Bank of Vietnam, and implemented many practical and effective activities from the industry level to the grassroots level. These contributions have been recognized by the Party and State with many noble awards such as the First, Second, and Third Class Labor Medals, Emulation Flags, Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister and central ministries and branches.
In 2025, the VIII Congress of the Vietnam Bank Union, term 2025–2030, was successfully held, marking a new step in the development of the banking industry trade union organization. With the action motto "Innovation - Democracy - Discipline - Solidarity - Development", the Congress clearly identified the goals, directions and key tasks, emphasizing the requirement to strongly innovate trade union activities in a modern direction, adapting to digital transformation.
The Congress unanimously proposed 2 breakthroughs and 9 key task groups for the new term, showing high political determination in building an increasingly strong trade union organization, operating effectively and efficiently, meeting the development requirements of the Sector in the new period.
The success of the VIII Congress created a vibrant emulation atmosphere throughout the system, consolidating the trust of union members and workers in the Trade Union organization; and at the same time affirming the determination of the Vietnam Bank Union in accompanying the Banking Industry in innovation and sustainable development, making positive contributions to the cause of building and developing the country.
Implementing the policy of streamlining the organizational structure, the Vietnam Bank Union has proactively reviewed and consolidated the trade union system in a focused, consistent, and effective direction, suitable to the specific characteristics of the industry. At the same time, promoting the work of developing union members and improving the quality of trade union officials.
Organization streamlining not only helps reduce focal points, clarify functions, and improve the quality of trade union officials, but also creates conditions to focus resources on key tasks, especially the work of representing, caring for and protecting the rights of union members and workers.
To date, the entire Vietnam Bank Union system has over 200,000 union members, continuing to affirm the role and spread of the trade union organization throughout the sector.
In the 2025–2030 term, the Vietnam Bank Union continues to promote comprehensive innovation, pioneering the application of digital transformation in trade union activities; strengthen propaganda and education, build culture and professional ethics; and proactively participate in building mechanisms and policies to better care for the material and spiritual life of union members and workers.
Promoting the 33-year tradition, with the spirit of solidarity, innovation and aspiration for development, the Vietnam Bank Union will continue to accompany the Sector, contributing to building a team of brave, professional, and creative officials and employees, meeting the requirements of rapid and sustainable development in the new era..." - Ms. Nguyen Khanh Chi shared.
In the period 2023 - 2025, the entire Vietnam Bank Union system has spent more than 4,200 billion VND on welfare programs, supporting union members and workers; promptly supporting workers affected by organizational restructuring, natural disasters, epidemics and particularly difficult circumstances. 100% of workers have signed labor contracts and fully participate in social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance according to regulations.
