Maintaining the organizational flow, taking care of the needs of workers
By the end of 2025, the Vietnam Bank Union system has more than 200,860 union members, with women accounting for about 57%. The entire system has 869 grassroots trade unions.
The process of arranging the organizational structure directly affects the scale of union members: The number of union members decreased by 10,474 people due to dissolution and termination of trade union activities at units receiving 100% salary from the budget. However, the work of developing new union members still reached 5,956 people, completing the assigned target.
Ms. Nguyen Khanh Chi - Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Bank Union said that welfare activities are implemented in the direction of going straight to the times when union members and workers are most vulnerable. During Workers' Month, 284 gifts were given to workers directly in difficult circumstances; at the same time, 3,132 officials, civil servants, public employees and workers of the State Bank of Vietnam branch in 63 provinces and cities were supported before the time of arranging the organizational structure, with a total budget of 9.396 billion VND (3 million VND/person). This approach helps welfare not fall into formality, but become a "safe cushion" when organization changes.
Another highlight is the Trade Union Meal program, implemented in more than 554 grassroots trade unions, with 95,157 participants. The highest meal is 393,000 VND, the lowest is 50,000 VND; total budget is more than 13.2 billion VND, of which nearly 4.75 billion VND is from trade union finance and over 8.47 billion VND from professional support. Not only caring for material life, this activity also creates a space for connection right at the workplace.

In parallel with care, the role of protecting workers' rights continues to be strengthened through the implementation of grassroots democracy and legal advice.
In 2025, 100% of administrative agencies and non-business units will organize conferences of officials and civil servants; over 98.7% of units and businesses will organize employee conferences. The Legal Consulting Office of the trade union participates in contributing written opinions to 26 cases of labor discipline handling, and at the same time advises on many contents related to labor regulations, collective labor agreements, salary scales and employee conferences at 100% foreign-owned and FDI enterprises.
Social security and digital transformation – two pillars that make a mark
According to the leader of the Vietnam Bank Union, social security activities continue to create a big impression when union members and employees in the banking sector supported 82 billion VND for the program to jointly eliminate 1,000 temporary and dilapidated houses. This resource corresponds to the cost of building 1,366 new houses, with a support level of 60 million VND/house, exceeding 36.6% of the initial target. The total social security resources implemented by trade union levels in professional coordination in the year were recorded at about 1,300 billion VND, clearly showing social responsibility and the spread of the banking industry union organization.
Meanwhile, digital transformation is no longer a slogan but has become a practical operating requirement. When work shifts strongly to digital platforms, trade unions also proactively innovate operating methods. The Vietnam Bank Union has developed a comprehensive digital transformation project for the period 2025–2030, promoting E-learning in professional training. Notably, the training course "Applying AI - Enhancing work efficiency" with more than 200 officials participating, associated with the spirit of "Digital literacy", shows efforts to improve the capacity of trade union officials to keep up with the pace of innovation of credit institutions.
In 2026, the Vietnam Bank Union will continue to consolidate its representative role in provinces and cities; increase health care, visits, encouragement; organize appropriate cultural and sports activities to improve the physical strength and spiritual life of workers and trade union activities must go along with the digital transformation of the entire industry" - Ms. Nguyen Khanh Chi shared.
