Excited to join the trade union
After a period of propaganda and mobilization by the Ben Thanh Ward Trade Union, Ho Chi Minh City, at the end of July 2026, on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026), 157 workers (NLĐ) of Vien Son Informatics Technology Co., Ltd., Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, voluntarily wrote applications to join and were admitted as union members.
Mr. Le Nhat Truong - Chairman of the Grassroots Trade Union of Vien Son Informatics Technology Co., Ltd. - said that at first, many brothers were still confused and wondered what benefits it would bring to joining the trade union and having to pay union fees. However, after being explained more about the benefits of joining the trade union by Ben Thanh Ward Trade Union officials and the company, 157 workers (100%) voluntarily wrote applications to join the trade union.
Although we are just joining the union, we are all excited," Mr. Truong said.

Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Khanh Ngoc - Chairman of the grassroots trade union of Truong Thinh Vuong - Saigon Co., Ltd., in Tan Tao ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said that the company has 53 people, except for 3 management officials, the remaining 50 direct employees voluntarily wrote applications to join the trade union at the end of July.
“Brothers are all excited to know that becoming a member of the Vietnam Trade Union organization will be protected and cared for,” said Mr. Ngoc.
Creating spillover effects and enhancing workers' trust in trade unions
Mr. Huynh Vinh Lam - Chairman of Ben Thanh Ward Trade Union - said that in July 2026, Ben Thanh Ward Trade Union propagated and mobilized, thereby establishing 20 grassroots trade unions and developing 750 union members. In general, from the beginning of the year to now, Ben Thanh Ward Trade Union has established 49 grassroots trade unions and developed more than 2,230 union members.
To achieve the above results, Ben Thanh Ward Trade Union has proactively reviewed businesses that are eligible to establish grassroots trade unions, strengthened propaganda and mobilized businesses and workers about the role and benefits of establishing trade union organizations.
At the same time, assigning officials to directly support businesses in completing dossiers and guiding the process of establishing grassroots trade unions according to regulations. In addition, care and welfare activities for union members are also regularly implemented, creating a spreading effect and enhancing the trust of workers in the trade union organization.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan - Chairman of Tan Tao Ward Trade Union, from the beginning of the year to now, Tan Tao Ward Trade Union has propagated, mobilized and contributed to the establishment of 12 grassroots trade unions with nearly 1,570 union members.
According to Mr. Tuan, currently, the Tan Tao Ward Trade Union organizes many forms of propaganda and mobilization for workers to join the trade union and the locality also has many activities to care for union members practically and effectively.
Those actions have helped workers better understand the trade union organization and voluntarily join and become members of the Vietnam Trade Union," Mr. Tuan said.
Mr. Vo Khac Thai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation said that the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union Congress has set out 16 targets to strive for each year, including the target of developing an average of at least 450,000 trade union members; by the end of 2030, there will be an additional 2.25 million newly admitted trade union members. In July 2026 alone, Ho Chi Minh City trade union levels have promoted the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions. As a result, 498 newly established grassroots trade unions with nearly 22,920 union members and 6 professional unions with 289 professional union members.
