In the afternoon of September 14, on the 2nd working day in Vietnam, a high-level delegation of the Capital Trade Union Union of Vientiane (Laos) visited and worked with the VGCL.
Speaking at the working session, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Ngo Duy Hieu said that trade unions between the two capitals have continued to maintain increasingly close relations for decades.
The two sides have maintained high-level visits, implemented specific cooperation programs, including a cooperation program on personnel training.
The VGCL highly appreciates those specific cooperation programs" - Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said.
According to the Standing Vice President of the VGCL, recently, the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress was very successful. In which, setting out goals to develop the Vietnam Trade Union, innovate the content and methods of operation; do better the task of caring for and protecting the rights of workers. At the same time, making more positive contributions to the task of improving the quality of resources, labor productivity and implementing the goal of double-digit growth.
Promote international cooperation on trade unions, prioritizing traditional partners with long-term friendly relations. In which, the VGCL is always ready to share experiences with Lao Trade Unions, contributing to promoting Lao economic development, improving the lives of people and workers... in the context of the world situation having many complex developments.
Speaking at the working session, Ms. Khotamine Phongyalac - Chairwoman of the Capital Trade Union Union of Vientiane - said that the working delegation received enthusiastic support and assistance from the Hanoi Labor Federation.
In particular, the Hanoi Labor Federation has organized many practical activities for the working delegation to study practical models and exchange experiences with grassroots trade unions.
According to Ms. Khotamine Phongyalac, Vientiane Capital is implementing the construction of a commune-level model (formerly with villages, districts and provinces). Vientiane Capital currently has 9 districts and has just built 33 communes.
Because the commune-level government has just been formed, we do not have experience in the process of building grassroots commune-level trade unions" - Ms. Khotamine Phongyalac said.
During this working trip, Ms. Khotamine Phongyalac requested the VGCL and Hanoi Labor Federation to create conditions, help, and share experiences on building commune-level grassroots trade unions.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - emphasized that all conditions will be created for the cooperation process between the Hanoi Trade Union and Vientiane (Laos) to be as favorable as possible.
I hope that in the coming time, the trade unions of the two capitals will continue to think to enrich and make more practical activities, making important contributions to the great tradition of friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries" - Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said.
