On the afternoon of September 14, the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union organized a ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its establishment and receive the Third-class Labor Medal; commending typical collectives and individuals in the period 2021-2026.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor attended and spoke at the anniversary ceremony.
Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tam - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union - sent deep thanks to generations of trade union officials, from industry trade unions to grassroots trade unions, who have devoted their enthusiasm and efforts to trade union organizations and workers.
Those are the times going down to the factory to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of workers; dialogues with businesses to remove obstacles regarding employment, income, and protect the legitimate rights of workers; and the timely presence when union members are sick or families face difficulties.

There are very small, very silent things that cannot be fully recorded in the report and not many people know about. But it is from such things that over the years, the trust of workers in the trade union organization has been constantly nurtured" - Ms. Tam expressed.
Speaking at the anniversary ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - acknowledged and highly appreciated the imprints that the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union has created in 30 years of operation.
According to him, 30 years is a proud milestone, a foundation for the Vietnam Textile and Garment Union to continue to develop. However, ahead is fierce trade competition, unprecedented changes in technology, automation, artificial intelligence, green production, and circular economy. The global supply chain will continue to directly impact jobs, skills and income of workers.
That is the problem posed for the trade union organization: both protecting workers, maintaining harmonious labor relations, and taking care of workers in the short term and improving their long-term capacity" - Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan said.
In the new period, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor set a requirement for the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union: First, pay attention to educating traditions and arousing pride in the textile and garment industry.
He believes that labor productivity comes not only from skills or production organization methods but also from the love of the profession and industry of each worker and laborer.

The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposed that industry trade unions must proactively identify changes in jobs and skills. According to him, protecting workers is not only to support them when they lose their jobs, but more importantly to help them prepare for changes.
Trade unions need to coordinate with businesses to forecast job demand and new skills, thereby proactively proposing training and retraining so that workers can adapt while still working.
He also proposed that the industry trade union continue to take the lead in improving the quality of dialogue and collective bargaining.
According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, the sectoral collective labor agreement has been effective in the past and needs to be further improved in quality, associated with salaries based on productivity, training and career change, working conditions, sustainable welfare, and employment policies in the digital transformation, green transformation and circular economy development process.
The Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor requested the Industry Trade Union to turn labor productivity into a common benefit of workers and businesses.
The Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union needs to widely deploy the movement of good labor, high productivity, good income, associated with the Skilled Worker Contest, productivity emulation, initiatives; together with businesses, share achievements and replicate efficiency to each team, each line, each job position...
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan proposed that the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union promote the nature of the industry to experiment with new ways of doing things, contributing new models to the trade union system.
In the immediate future, the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union needs to coordinate with the Labor Federations of provinces and cities to aim to cover 100% of trade union organizations in textile and garment enterprises before the commitments to establishing employee representative organizations in enterprises officially take effect" - Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan stated.
At the anniversary ceremony, Mr. Le Tien Truong - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group - assessed that in 30 years of operation, especially the period 2021-2026, the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union has gradually affirmed its position as an organic part of the enterprise, accompanying the management team in stabilizing the labor force, improving competitiveness and quality of human resources.
According to him, in the coming period, when Vietnam's competitive advantage in labor costs is no longer as before, the textile and garment industry must rely more on productivity, technology and quality of human resources. The Group sets a target of increasing labor income by over 10% per year, and labor productivity must also increase by over 10%.
Therefore, the emulation movement "Good labor, high productivity, good income" needs to be associated with three goals at the same time: improving the skills of workers; increasing productivity and business efficiency; improving income and bringing practical benefits to workers.
