The meeting took place on the occasion of Ms. Ingrid Christensen's end of her term in Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - highly appreciated and appreciated Ms. Ingrid Christensen's great contributions to the cooperative relationship between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the International Labor Organization (ILO) Office in Vietnam in particular and the ILO in general in recent times.
In the spirit of close, constructive and effective cooperation, during Ms. Ingrid Christensen's term, ILO and its tripartite partners in Vietnam signed and implemented the National Program framework for Enough Employment for the period 2022-2026.
Thereby, ILO has supported the Vietnam Trade Union to implement many practical activities to contribute to promoting decent employment, social dialogue, collective bargaining, occupational safety and hygiene, and improving the capacity of trade union cadres at all levels.
At the meeting, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor discussed some results of implementing the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Of which, over 48,000 collective labor agreements have been signed, reaching a rate of 72% of the total number of enterprises that have established grassroots unions with a coverage of more than 6.2 million employees.
Vietnam Trade Union also actively participates in international cooperation activities, including responsible participation in international labor conferences.

President Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized that among the above achievements, there is the effective companionship and support of Ms. Ingrid Christensen and the staff of the ILO Office in Vietnam, contributing to helping the Vietnam Trade Union gradually adapt to the new situation and continue to promote its role as a representative, caretaker, and defender the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Ingrid Christensen thanked the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for its close cooperation and support. According to her, in the coming time, the world will have many changes, workers as well as vulnerable people such as the elderly and children will need to be more protected. Therefore, Ms. Ingrid Christensen hopes that the Vietnam Trade Union will continue to promote its role in protecting the legitimate and legal rights of workers.
Referring to the principle of protecting workers in the context of strong development of science and technology, especially artificial intelligence and changes in labor relations, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor hopes that ILO will continue to conduct research as well as continue to support the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor affirmed that a term of office will end, but it will be a transition of a cooperative, friendly, sustainable, and long-term partnership between the two sides. Regardless of Ms. Ingrid Christensen's position in any position in the coming time, the Vietnam Trade Union hopes that she will continue to be a bridge, a companion with the workers' movement and the Vietnam Trade Union organization on the journey for the rights of workers and social justice.
