Workers have more support to rise up
In 2025, the work of caring for the lives of workers in Vinh Long achieved many positive results. Trade union levels have supported the construction and repair of 99 "Trade Union Homes", "Medical Industry Homes", "Charity Houses" reaching 247.5% of the target.
This result shows the great efforts of the Trade Union organization in implementing the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for union members in difficult circumstances, especially workers in non-state sector enterprises.
In addition to supporting housing, the Provincial Trade Union especially focuses on giving "fishing rods" for livelihoods through revolving capital sources. This approach helps union members have more conditions to develop the economy and stabilize long-term income.
Ms. Nguyen Kim Oanh - a garment worker in Ba Tri commune - said that previously her income was only enough to cover minimum living expenses. The family wants livestock to improve the economy but cannot access safe and suitable capital.
According to Ms. Oanh, the rotating capital of 20 million VND from the Trade Union has helped the family buy breeding cows, opening up a direction for secondary economic development. This is a "fishing rod" at the right time, creating more confidence and motivation to rise up.
Not only supporting with capital, the Trade Union also becomes a spiritual support. Close attention helps the family confidently maintain the livestock model, creating more stable income for life," Ms. Oanh added.
Sharing that joy, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - a union member who just received support to repair her house - said that the new house helps her family feel more secure in life, no longer worried about prolonged storms.
According to Ms. Hanh, when accommodation is stable, workers have more motivation to work and be attached to the business. The concern and companionship of the Trade Union helps workers have more confidence in life.
Switching from immediate support to sustainable social security
In 2025, the work of taking care of union members through the programs "Tet Sum vay - Spring of Gratitude to the Party", "Trade Union Tet Market", visiting and giving gifts to 145,745 union members with a budget of 99 billion VND.
Notably, the "Rearguard for Workers" program implemented by the Provincial Labor Federation has become a highlight in long-term care activities.
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation - said that after 2 years of implementation, the program has helped 98 union members and workers escape poverty sustainably, affirming the effectiveness of the model.
According to Mr. Linh, the Trade Union clearly defines a solid rear role, shifting from timely support to sustainable social security, focusing on housing, livelihoods and long-term welfare programs.
In the coming time, the Provincial Labor Federation will continue to promote the "Skillful Mass Mobilization" model, applying digital technology to strengthen welfare connections, and bring policies to the right target audience, more promptly and effectively.
