On July 2nd, at Giao Long Commune People's Committee, the Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) organized a conference to announce the decision to establish Giao Long Commune Trade Union and Phu Khuong Ward Trade Union.
According to the decision of the Provincial Labor Federation, Phu Khuong Ward Trade Union was handed over to manage 24 grassroots trade unions with 3,256 union members; Giao Long Commune Trade Union received 38 grassroots trade unions with 32,061 union members. The interim Executive Committee of the two units was also appointed to deploy activities according to the new model.
Speaking to receive the assignment, Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai - Chairman of Phu Khuong Ward Trade Union - said that the Provisional Executive Committee will promote the spirit of solidarity, innovate the content and methods of operation, and perform well the role of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers.
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung - Vice President of Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation - emphasized that the establishment of Giao Long Commune Trade Union and Phu Khuong Ward Trade Union is a specific step to concretize the policy of focusing on grassroots levels, contributing to improving the effectiveness of caring for and protecting the rights of union members and workers, meeting development requirements in the new period.

Leaders of the Provincial Labor Federation proposed that the Provisional Executive Committee of the two units soon stabilize the organization, build operating regulations, strengthen coordination with local Party committees and authorities; and at the same time promote the development of union members, establish grassroots trade unions at qualified enterprises to improve the quality of trade union activities.
The establishment of two trade unions is implemented according to the policy of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Project of the Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation on organizing commune and ward trade unions.
To date, Vinh Long province has established 8 commune and ward trade unions, contributing to consolidating trade union organizations according to the new model, bringing trade union activities closer to grassroots levels, improving the effectiveness of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers.
