The consortium of An Bao Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company (Representative of the consortium) and Thua Thien Hue Construction Joint Stock Company, Viet Anh Investment Joint Stock Company, Central Technology Equipment Company Limited, and Hanoi Engineering Joint Stock Company are all members of the consortium constructing the project.
In which, phase 2, package 33 carries out the construction and installation of blocks 02, 03 (6 floors); block 6C (4 floors) and equipment installed in phase 2; adding stairs, upgrading and adding equipment to the meeting room and hall of the Department of Construction in phase 1.
Slogans such as “Safety is your friend - Accident is your enemy”, “Safety is above all” are posted everywhere at the construction site. However, in reality, workers have to work at high positions without protection, threatening the safety of workers.
At the construction site, workers take turns using winches to transport materials from the first and second floors to the sixth floor of the construction site. It is worth mentioning that during the process of transferring materials, workers must work at high positions, standing in places without protective scaffolding to control the path of the materials.
In addition, on the highest floor (6th floor), the workers had no protective equipment. No protective clothing, no gloves and especially no standard safety helmets.
In another location, a worker was welding some items. Although he was wearing protective clothing, there was no scaffolding or protective equipment at his work location to prevent accidents.
When the presence of reporters was detected, the group of workers received orders to stop working and move on to other jobs.
On November 18, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of the Thua Thien Hue Province Urban Development and Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that the unit has been informed of the incident.
"Tomorrow (November 19), we will send people to check the safety situation at the above construction site. If we continue to detect violations, we will strictly correct them to ensure the safety of workers during the working process" - said a representative of the Project Management Board for Investment, Construction and Urban Development of Thua Thien Hue province.
